Med App provides a digitised method of collecting multi-source feedback (MSF), a key requirement from the AMC for measuring clinical competency.

Why is it important?

  • Provides evidence on a candidate's performance from various sources including colleagues, other co-workers (nurses, allied health) and patients.

  • Questionnaires completed by each of these groups assess a candidate’s performance over time in contrast to a specific candidate encounter.

  • Enables the assessment of proficiencies that underpin safe and effective clinical practice, yet are often difficult to assess including interpersonal and communication.

How does it work

  1. Med App will provide a survey template that can be used for each assessment and candidate.

  2. Each distribution of the survey will generate a URL link for each candidate that can be shared with assessors to complete the assessment.

  3. Assessors can complete feedback on a mobile device or computer.

  4. Each candidate's results are grouped together and can be downloaded as a CSV file ready for submission.

  5. Submit as evidence to AMC

Step-by-step process

Before you begin this process, please contact Med App to create an MSF template for you. You can click the chat icon below or email contact@medapps.com.au

1. Setup a cohort and add yourself

  • Open the Cohorts feature and press 'Create cohort' providing a Name and brief description. (We'll be using this later in the process).

  • Now add yourself as a user and save the cohort

2. Generate a unique distribution

Generate a new distribution for each candidate to keep the results grouped together To start click 'Send new distribution'.

  • Title: Enter a survey title for example MSF and the name of the candidate.

  • Survey close date: Choose when the assessor can last submit a feedback form.

  • Message: We won't be using this function to send directly to assessors as not all of them will be on Med App. For now, enter anything into the message title and body

  • Recipients: Select the cohort you made earlier, which just contains yourself

3. Unique URL

Now you have generated a unique URL that allows anyone with it to access the survey.

To find the URL, open the new distribution by clicking on the title

Now you can Copy the URL link to send the survey to anyone you require to complete the survey.

4. Sending an assessment

Use the link and Send it to each assessor. This could be done via email, SMS, teams or WhatsApp. Each person who clicks it will create a new response for the candidate.

5. Completing an assessment

Anyone who has the URL can now complete an MSF on either their phone or Computer.

6. Downloading the results

Now that the assessors have provided feedback you can view and download the results.

  • To find each candidate's results, open your distribution by going to Surveys -> AMC Multisource Feedback -> and choosing the distribution that corresponds to their name.

  • You can quickly view results within Med App, however for submitting to AMC you'll need to download them

  • To do this press export as CSV to download the results.

Open the CSV file in an application like Microsoft Excel to review the data.

  • Press the data tab

  • Highlight all data cells you want to sort, group or filter.

  • Press on the collum you want to filter. E.g. Candidate name, number or global competency.

Now your multi-source feedback results are ready to be uploaded to AMC.
