A mention is any reference to a brand, keyword, hashtag, or phrase you monitor through Mentionlytics on social media, websites, and other online platforms.

For example, if someone posts a video on TikTok including your brand name in the caption, that counts as a mention.

Mentionlytics detects mentions based on the specific keywords or hashtags you set up to monitor in your Mention Trackers.

What Information Does a Mention Usually Include?

Web mentions and social mentions provide different kinds of information, which is why we explain them separately below.

A web mention usually includes:

  • Name of the website

  • URL

  • Country Rank/Global Rank

  • Image

  • Headline

  • Short text (caption)

  • Time of publishing

  • Day of publishing

  • Country

  • Language

Here are two visual representations of where you can see each information point in a web mention.

How Can I View a Full Mention?

At the bottom of any mention box, you can find the options to view, open, delete, or assign (the little white circle below the emotion icon) that mention.

extra buttons in mentions

You can view the mention as a pop-up window in Mentionlytics and check the whole content (for social mentions) or see more information, such as a snapshot, main article, HTML source, and text content (for web mentions). Otherwise, you can click “Open” and go to the original source.

When you choose to “View” a mention, you will also see the options to:
