A Mention Tracker in Mentionlytics is a folder that includes any keywords and/or social profiles you add for monitoring. It organizes your monitoring setup and shows you the total mentions collected for everything inside that tracker.
Whenever you create or save a keyword or add a social profile, you can place it inside a tracker to keep your monitoring clean and structured.
How Mention Trackers Work
A tracker does not count as a keyword. You can create as many trackers as you need.
Each tracker displays the combined total of mentions from all included keywords and social profiles.
When you first set up your account, Mentionlytics asks you to create a tracker for the first keyword you enter and any social profiles you add.
You can view the Mention Tracker Box, which contains all your trackers, from every menu section except SIA Insights, SIA Chatbot, Publisher, and Settings. They appear with a colored circle for easy identification.
Why Mention Trackers Are Helpful
Mention Trackers are essential because they allow you to:
1. Organize your monitoring
Group related keywords and social profiles together (e.g., by brand, campaign, competitor, or product line) for a clearer and more efficient workflow.
2. Get accurate insights
Trackers show a combined overview of all mentions, helping you easily understand performance, sentiment, and trends across all monitored terms.
3. Monitor your brand, competitors, or marketing leads
Follow what people are saying about:
Your brand
Your competitors
Your industry
Your hashtags
Your campaigns
All in real time (for Advanced and higher-tier plans), even if you are not tagged.
4. Customize your reporting
Choose which trackers (and which keywords/social profiles within them) you want to include in dashboards, reports, and analytics overall.
5. Stay in control of your data
Quickly exclude or pause keywords or profiles from the Brand Monitoring, Competitors, or Marketing Leads section if you don’t want their mentions included in your analytics.
Why Keeping Related Keywords in One Tracker Can Be Beneficial
In many cases, it is recommended to keep similar keywords or related social profiles within the same tracker, instead of splitting them across multiple trackers.
By using the “Avoid duplicates” option (enabled by default):
Duplicate mentions are automatically prevented when similar keywords overlap.
Mentions from social profiles that frequently reference each other are counted only once.
Helps avoid duplicate data across trackers.
Helps protect your mention quota, as duplicate mentions are not counted multiple times.
For these reasons, before deleting a tracker or creating multiple similar trackers, it’s worth reviewing your setup to ensure it is optimized both for data accuracy and quota usage.
In Summary: A Mention Tracker helps you organize any keywords or social profiles you add. It keeps your data structured and provides a powerful overview of all relevant mentions across the web and social media.
