Mentionlytics allows you to track both owned social profiles (your business pages/accounts) and competitors’ public profiles across multiple social media platforms.
You can also add social profiles in your Marketing Leads section to track conversations in your industry.
Follow the steps below to add social profiles.
Steps to Add a Social Profile for Monitoring
Go to the Mention Trackers box in your dashboard.
Hover over the Tracker where you want to add a social profile.
Click the (+) Add button.
Select “I want to add a Social Profile.”
Paste the URL or profile/page name.
Select the platform you want (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Below, you may see all the options you have.
Click Update to connect the profile and complete any required authorizations. Scroll to the next section to see more information about authorizations.
After adding a profile, you will see a little house icon next to the profile in keyword trackers (if authorized for owned media).
Once added, Mentionlytics will begin collecting data from that profile from that moment onward.
You can also add social profiles from your Account Configuration section, where you can view and authorize your already existing profiles.
Why Authorizations are Required to Monitor Social Profiles
Some social media platforms enforce strict access rules through their APIs. Authorization is needed to:
Verify page/profile ownership
Protect user and platform data
Prevent scraping
Access private engagement metrics
Retrieve non-public insights (for your owned media performance)
Enable access for keyword monitoring in specific sources (e.g., Instagram, Threads).
Without authorization, Mentionlytics may either:
Not collect any data in specific sources
Only collect limited publicly available data (platform-dependent)
Platform Authorization & Restrictions Overview
Below, we provide a clean, comprehensive overview of what each platform requires, what data you can unlock by authorizing a profile, and platform-specific limitations.
