The mentions quota in Mentionlytics is the total number of mentions that the system will collect for your keywords within a given period.

Each subscription plan comes with a monthly mentions quota, which means the total number of mentions collected for the month. Each month the quota is renewed.

The free trial account comes with a 10K quota for 14 days of free usage.

How do I know my account is running low on mentions quota?

You can follow the quota usage in Settings - Account Configuration in your account. There is a bar that shows how many mentions have been collected, how many are left, and for what period of time.

*Please mind that the Total mentions metric in the Overview does not measure your mentions quota. To show you the best and most relevant results, the system has a built-in, two-tier filtering before it displays the results on the dashboard. So, what you see are not all mentions that have been initially collected.

If you would like to see all the mentions the system has collected, you need to go to the Filters and select Relevancy – All (The default setting is Normal – the second tier of selection). This is also the filtering to use if a mention is not being displayed in your dashboard, it could have not passed the first-tier filtering.

When the quota is running low you will also get a pop-up notification on top of your Overview screen that will notify you about the percentage of quota left and the remaining days until it renews.

What happens when the quota is used up?

In the cases when your keywords are popular and there are more mentions than the quota in your plan, the system will bring the mentions up to your quota and then stop monitoring. This may cause data gaps until your next month´s quota is renewed.

What can I do if the quota is running low?

If you are low on quota you can:

  1. Pause your keywords – from the Advanced Settings of each keyword. So, if you notice that a specific keyword eats up your quota, it will stop getting new mentions for it, so that the other keywords will be able to continue getting results.

  2. Optimize and edit the keywords - add a specifier or negative keywords to narrow down the search. If you are not sure how to do it, we are happy to help you, just contact our support team!

  3. Delete a keyword – please keep in mind that this will also remove the collected data and it cannot be restored.

Please mind that deleting mentions that have already been pulled will not bring the quota back.

What to do when the quota is used up?

When your quota is completely used up you will get a pop-up notification on top of your Overview screen that will notify you that you have 0 mentions quota.

In this case, what you can do is:

  • Purchase more mentions - from Settings – Plan and Billing – Add extras.

If you have decided to purchase more mentions, please optimize (edit, pause) your keywords beforehand to avoid the new mentions being consumed too quickly. If you have difficulties doing that, please contact our support team to assist you.

  • Upgrade your plan - Select a plan with a bigger mentions quota and upgrade your plan

  • If you are on a free trial – contact our support team

How do I prevent my quota from being used up?

To make sure your mentions quota is used in the best possible way, please make sure your keywords are properly optimized. Our support team will be happy to assist you with the optimization.

Quick Tip!

If you are not sure what kind of results your keyword will bring and if it is popular or not, you can add it to the platform, wait for several minutes for the first results to come in, and then pause it. You can pause by hovering over the keyword, clicking on the little pen to edit it, then selecting - Advanced options and unticking the Active button.

The next step is to look through the results and see if they are relevant to the topic or not. In case they are most relevant, you can reactivate the keyword, in case they are not, please contact our support team or book a meeting for optimization of the keywords.
