What Photo Boost Does

Photo Boost makes it easier to get fresh images from your customers. When a customer opens your review request link, they can be asked to share a photo before leaving their Google review. After they upload the photo, Paige can prepare that image for marketing use by optimizing it with SEO-friendly details, such as file naming, geotagging when available, and a helpful meta description. Before the photo is used anywhere, you can review it and choose whether to approve or reject it.

You can watch an overview video below:

How the Customer Experience Works

When Photo Boost is enabled, your review request flow can ask customers to share a picture. The customer can:

Option

What it means

Take a photo

The customer can use their phone or device camera to take a new picture.

Upload a photo

The customer can choose an existing image from their device.

Skip

The customer can skip the photo step and go straight to Google to leave a review.

This keeps the process simple for customers while giving your business more chances to collect useful photos.

How to Turn On Photo Boost

Photo Boost is enabled by default for all businesses added to Paige after 12pm PST on Friday October 24th, 2026. If you signed up for Paige before then, you can follow the following steps to enable Photo Boost:

  1. Log in to Paige.

  2. Go to the Reviews tab.

  3. Open Preferences.

  4. Find the Advanced Features setting.

  5. Choose Photo Boost

  6. Review your approval settings. (by default Paige will not create tasks, so you will need to manually enable that feature if you want to see all image approvals as tasks on your Dashboard)

  7. Save your changes

Once Photo Boost is turned on, customers who use your review request link can be guided through the photo upload flow.

Advanced Feature Options

In the Advanced Features section, you may see a few different options.

Setting

What it does

Suggested Reviews

Uses the suggested review flow instead of Photo Boost. (not recommended anymore as it is considered against Google's policies)

Photo Boost

Allows customers to upload or take a photo before going to Google. (highly recommended)

Off

Turns off advanced features.

We recommend using Photo Boost if your business needs more photos for Google, posts, videos, or other marketing content.

Choose Who Approves Uploaded Photos

Photo Boost includes an approval process because not every customer photo may be right for your business.

Approves are on by default and going to the account admin's email unless changed on a per-business level. To make this change, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Reviews.

  2. Open Preferences

  3. Find the Photo Boost approval settings.

  4. Enter the email address of the person who should approve uploaded photos.

  5. Choose whether you also want approval items to appear as tasks in your Paige dashboard.

You can approve photos by email, from the dashboard, or both, depending on your settings.

Email Approval vs. Dashboard Approval

You can decide how you want to manage new Photo Boost uploads.

Approval method

Best for

Email approval

You want the approver to receive an email whenever a new photo needs review or have a client manage these

Dashboard task

You want Photo Boost approvals to also appear inside Paige as tasks

Both

You want email notifications and an easy place to find approvals in the dashboard.

If you only want to approve photos by email, you can leave dashboard tasks turned off. If you want the extra visibility inside Paige, enable the dashboard task option.

Choose Where Approved Photos Can Be Used

In your Photo Boost settings, you can choose where uploaded photos may be used by default. The available options include:

Usage option

What it means

Posts

Allows the image to be used for posts.

Videos

Allows the image to be used for videos.

Google media section

Allows the image to be added to the media/photos area of your Google Business Profile.

We recommend leaving all available options enabled by default. You can still remove one of these options later during the approval step if you do not want a specific image used in a certain place.

Customize the Words Customers See

You can customize the wording in the Photo Boost flow.

This means you can change the text customers see when they are asked to share a photo. This is helpful if you want the message to sound more like your business or agency brand.

For example, you may want to adjust the wording to ask for:

  • A photo of their meal

  • A picture of the finished service

  • A before-and-after photo

  • A photo from their visit

  • A picture of the product they purchased

Use clear and friendly wording so customers understand what kind of photo you want them to share.

How to Approve a Photo from the Dashboard

If dashboard tasks are enabled, new Photo Boost photos can appear as tasks inside Paige. To review a photo from the dashboard:

  1. Go to your Paige dashboard.

  2. Scroll to your tasks.

  3. Look for a Photo Boost task that says a photo needs approval.

  4. Click Review.

  5. Look at the uploaded photo.

  6. Choose where the photo should be used.

For example, you can allow it for posts and videos but remove it from the Google media section if you do not want it posted there.

  7. Click Approve if you want to use the photo.

  8. Click Reject if you do not want to use the photo.

Paige also reviews uploaded images to help catch photos that may not be appropriate, but you should still review each photo before approving it.

How to Approve a Photo from Email

When a customer uploads a photo, the approver can receive an email notification.

To approve from email:

  1. Open the Photo Boost approval email.

  2. Click the button to review the image.

  3. Look at the uploaded photo.

  4. Choose which marketing purposes the photo can be used for.

  5. Click Approve to accept the photo.

  6. Click Reject if you do not want to use it.

This works similarly to approving other content inside Paige.

What Happens After a Photo Is Approved

After you approve a Photo Boost image, Paige adds it to your image library and prepares it for marketing use. Paige may:

  • Rename the file using target keywords

  • Geotag the image when geotag information is available if the customer's device didn't already geo-tag it

  • Write a meta description for the image

  • Queue the image for approved marketing uses

This helps make customer photos more useful for your online presence and Google Business Profile.

Important Notes

Existing locations keep their current settings. If you were already using Paige before Photo Boost was released, your existing locations will continue using the settings they had before. For new locations, Photo Boost may be the default advanced feature instead of Suggested Reviews. Customers are not forced to upload a photo. They can skip the photo step and continue to Google to leave their review.

Best Practices for Using Photo Boost

  • Use simple wording in the customer flow. Customers are more likely to upload a photo when they understand exactly what you are asking for.

  • Ask for photos that make sense for your business. A restaurant might ask for a photo of the meal, while a home service business might ask for a picture of the finished project.

  • Check your approvals regularly. Fresh customer photos are most useful when they are approved and added to your marketing quickly.

Leave all usage options enabled unless you have a reason not to. This gives Paige more flexibility to use approved images across your marketing.

Note: Paige will use AI to determine whether an image is appropriate and will not show it to a user if it is deemed inappropriate. AI is not perfect, so it is advisable to send image approvals only to mature adults who understand this risk, as nobody can control what a customer will try to provide as an image.
