Understanding basic concepts
Mercu is an AI-powered recruitment platform that streamlines repetitive tasks - like screening, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and more - so you can hire faster and smarter.
Here are the core concepts every user should know:
Jobs
Jobs represent open roles you're looking to fill. Candidates apply to or are added directly to jobs, and recruiters review applications in the context of each specific job vacancy.
Stages
Stages represent each step in your hiring process. Applications move through these stages - from initial steps (like Applied) all the way to final outcomes (like Hired).
Campaigns
Campaigns are pre-configured sets of questions and messages tied to specific hiring stages. For instance, a screening stage might have a campaign featuring initial screening questions. As soon as candidates reach a campaign's stage, they automatically receive these communications via WhatsApp or SMS.
Configuring interview availability
Mercu automates interview scheduling. When an application is moved into an interview stage, we send the candidate an invite to book their interview - based on the configured availability of the interviewer assigned to that stage.
So, if you're conducting interviews, make sure to configure your availability in Mercu. At a high level, there are three ways to configure interview availability:
Virtual calendar: Creates a standalone virtual calendar for a specific job.
Connected calendar: Syncs your Gmail or Outlook calendar to check for conflicts and auto-schedule interviews.
Auto-matching: Lets Mercu’s scheduling agent collect your availability for each interview and share available time slots with the candidate.
We strongly recommend using a connected calendar whenever possible. This ensures there are always enough available slots for candidates to choose from, and that booked interviews are automatically added to your calendar.
💡 Tip: If you're using the connected calendar option, you can set up default availability once, and it will automatically populate your availability for any job stage where you're added as the interviewer. This default availability can be overridden at the interview stage level, if needed.
Start reviewing applications
To start reviewing applications, click into the job. This will display the job stages along with all applications. Use filters to narrow down candidates and move them to the relevant next stage.
Filters are your best friend - they make reviewing 10, 100, or even 1,000 candidates quick and easy! You can read more about filters here.
FAQs
I logged in to the account but I can't see any jobs. Why? This is likely because you used a different email than was registered to your company's Mercu account. As a result, we couldn't map your email to an available account and created a new account instead. Please reach out to us via Intercom and we can help.
I can't make it to the interview and need to reschedule. How? We support easy rescheduling. Simply click on the Agenda tab on the side nav > find the interview that you want to reschedule > hover over the interview until you see three dots > click the dots > Ask to Reschedule.
