Order numbers in Mintsoft must follow specific uniqueness rules to ensure smooth order processing and prevent conflicts between sales channels.
The requirements differ based on your account type:
Multichannel customers
For multichannel accounts, every order number must be unique across your entire Mintsoft account. This means you cannot have duplicate order numbers, even if they come from different sales channels.
Example of what's not permitted
Amazon order: 12345
eBay order: 12345
These would conflict as they share the same order number.
3PL customers
For 3PL accounts, order numbers must be unique within each client. Different clients can use the same order numbers without conflict.
Examples of what's permitted
Client A: Order 12345
Client B: Order 12345
Example of what's not permitted
Client A: Order 12345
Client A: Order 12345
The same client cannot have duplicate order numbers.
Prevent duplicate order numbers
You can ensure unique order numbers by using order prefixes when configuring your integrations. This automatically adds a unique identifier to each order based on its source. To set up order prefixes:
Go to your integration's connection page.
Enter an order prefix in the Order Prefix field.
For Amazon, you might use 'AMZ-'.
For eBay, you might use 'EBAY-'.
Click Save.
Your orders will now import with the prefix added, creating unique identifiers:
Amazon orders become: AMZ-12345
eBay orders become: EBAY-12345
This approach prevents conflicts between different sales channels and ensures all order numbers remain unique across your account.
Summary
For Multichannel customers: Every order number must be unique across the entire Mintsoft system. No duplicate order numbers are permitted. When using multiple order integrations, set up an order prefix on each integration's connection page to ensure all order numbers remain unique.
For 3PL customers: Order numbers must be unique within each client but can be duplicated across different clients. For example, Client A can have Order123 and Client B can also have Order123. However, Client A cannot have two orders both numbered Order123. When using multiple order integrations, set up an order prefix on each integration's connection page to ensure order numbers remain unique within each client.
