1. Add a Payment Method
Before you can ride, add a valid payment method in the app.
You can use:
• Debit or credit card
• Apple Pay / Google Pay
Disposable or prepaid cards are not supported.
2. Your wallet balance (important)
To start a ride, your wallet must have at least €5.
If your balance is below €5, the ride will not start.
Tip: Add €20 to receive a €3 bonus.
Auto top-up automatically adds funds when your balance drops under €3, keeping it above €5. This prevents your ride from stopping mid-trip.
You can see all charges and download receipts anytime in Ride History.
3. Turn On Notifications
Notifications help you understand what’s happening during your ride.
You’ll receive alerts for:
• Automatic refunds if a ride fails to start
• Battery level warnings
• Parking confirmations
These updates mean you don’t need to contact support for most ride issues.
4. Find and start your ride
Open the app map to find nearby bikes
Scan the QR code on the bike
Unlock the bike from the stand using the combination lock
The lock code appears in the app
Before riding, do a quick safety check:
• Brakes working
• Tyres not flat
• Adjust saddle height
5. Returning your bike (very important)
Parking rules are set by the local authority and strictly enforced.
Incorrect parking can result in a €30 fine.
You must always:
• Park at a public bike stand
• Make sure the stand is inside a green zone on the map
• Lock the bike to the stand using the combination lock
• Submit a clear parking photo
Your photo must clearly show:
• The bike
• The stand
• The lock securing the bike to the stand
Blurry or unclear photos may result in a fine.
How to end your ride properly
Lock the bike to the stand with cable lock
Tap “End My Ride” in the app
Submit your parking photo
Stay beside the bike until the ride summary screen appears
Your ride is only finished once the ride summary screen shows.
If the ride does not end correctly, the bike remains on your account and charges or fines may apply.
If a bike stand is full, find another nearby. You can also tether one MOBY bike to another to save space.
