1. Add a Payment Method
To ride a bike, you need a valid payment method added to your account.
You can pay with:
Apple Pay / Google Pay
Any major debit or credit card (excluding prepaid or disposable cards)
A minimum wallet balance of €5 is required to unlock a bike.
2. Turn On Notifications
Notifications help you stay informed during your ride. They will alert you about:
Automatic refunds if a ride doesn’t start correctly
Battery levels
Parking status
Ride updates
Keeping notifications enabled makes riding smoother and often avoids the need to contact support.
3. Choose How You Want to Pay
There are a few ways to pay for your trips:
30 / 60 Minute Passes
Best value for short rides.
Weekly / Monthly Subscriptions
Ideal for regular riders.
PAYG (e-bikes Dublin)
€1 unlock + €0.25 per minute.
Visit Pricing in the help centre to compare options.
4. Find and Reserve a Bike
Open the app to browse available bikes.
Bikes are located in public bike stands inside green zones
Tap to reserve a bike if you see one nearby
Walk to the bike and check it over before unlocking
5. Start Your Ride
Scan the QR code on the bike
The lock code will appear in the app
Enter the code on the combination lock
Pull out the cable to unlock the bike
Before riding off, do a quick safety check:
Brakes working
Tyres not flat
Nothing loose or damaged
If something looks wrong, report the bike and choose another one.
6. Returning Your Bike
Always return your bike to a public stand inside a green parking zone marked with a (P).
To finish your ride:
Park at a stand
Lock the bike securely
Take a clear parking photo in the app
Wait for the confirmation message
If a stand is full, use another nearby.
You can also tether one MOBY bike to another to save space.
Parking incorrectly or submitting an unclear photo may result in a parking fine.
