1. Why Parking Fines Happen

To keep Dublin’s streets safe and comply with Dublin City Council regulations, bikes must be parked correctly at public bike stands located inside the green parking zones shown in the MOBY Move app.

Incorrect parking can:

  • Block footpaths, access routes, and public spaces

  • Violate city parking rules

  • Disrupt other riders and pedestrians

Fines are issued for:

  • Bikes not parked at a public bike stand marked in the app

  • Ending a ride outside a green parking zone

  • Ending a ride in a red zone

  • Submitting an incorrect or unclear parking photo

Valid parking fines are strictly non-refundable, as outlined in our Terms of Use.

2. How Our Parking Checks Work

When you submit your parking photo:

  1. The app checks if the bike is locked to a public stand

  2. The system reviews the photo for clarity, angle, and lock visibility

  3. Location data confirms the stand is inside a green parking zone

If the parking is incorrect, you’ll be asked to correct it before the ride can end.

Important:

Your ride only ends after you submit a clear and valid parking photo. Incorrect parking or invalid photos may result in a €30 fine.

3. How to Avoid Parking Fines

1. Park in the correct location

You must end your trip at a public bike stand shown in the app, located inside a green parking zone.

  • When browsing without an active ride, you will see the green zones

  • When you start a ride, the P-markers appear showing exact stand locations

  • You cannot end your trip in white zones

  • Red zones are strictly no-parking areas and will result in fines

Rule: All parking must be at public bike stands shown in the app map, inside a green parking zone.

2. Submit a clear and valid parking photo

Your photo must show:

  • The bike locked securely to a public stand

  • The lock clearly visible

  • A bright, clear image (not blurry or dark)

  • Enough background for the system to see the stand

This photo is your proof of proper parking.

4. Common Violations That Result in a €30 Fine

These are the most frequent reasons fines are issued:

  • Parking the bike anywhere other than a public bike stand marked in the app

  • Parking in a green zone but not at a stand

  • Ending a ride in a red zone

  • Not locking the bike to the stand

  • Submitting a parking photo where the lock is not visible

  • Blurry, dark, or unclear parking photos

  • Ending a ride where no stand exists

5. Contesting a Fine

You may contest a fine only if you believe it was applied in error.

Common valid reasons to contest include:

  • Your photo clearly shows the bike locked correctly

  • The stand was inside a green parking zone

  • The system mis-read your photo

  • A duplicate fine was issued

When contacting support, include:

  • The parking photo you submitted

  • The approx. time and location of your ride

  • Any supporting details

Please note:

Parking fines for valid violations remain non-refundable.

6. Summary

✔ Park only at public bike stands

✔ The stand must be inside a green parking zone

✔ Submit a clear parking photo

✔ Red zones = no parking

✔ Valid fines are non-refundable
