Driver Qualifications help you control which drivers should operate specific vehicles or vehicle categories. Use them for requirements such as a CDL, air-brake certification, passenger endorsement, specialized training, or any qualification your operation tracks.
Moovs compares the qualifications a driver holds with the qualifications required by the assigned vehicle and its category. If something is missing, dispatchers see a warning before completing the assignment.
How Qualifications Work
Drivers are marked with the qualifications they hold.
Vehicles or vehicle categories are marked with the qualifications they require.
A driver must hold every qualification required by the assigned vehicle and its category to avoid a conflict warning.
For example, create a qualification named CDL, select the CDL-qualified drivers, and apply it to the vehicle categories that require a CDL.
Create a Qualification
Go to Settings → Drivers.
Open the Qualifications tab.
Click New Qualification.
Enter a clear Qualification name.
Optionally add a description explaining what the qualification means and when it applies.
Choose a color so the qualification is easy to recognize.
Under Applies to, choose either Vehicles or Categories.
Select the drivers who hold the qualification.
Select the vehicles or vehicle categories that require it.
Click Create.
Important: The Vehicles or Categories choice is locked after creation. If you choose the wrong type, delete the qualification and create it again.
Choose Vehicles or Categories
Choose Vehicles when the requirement applies only to specific vehicles.
Choose Categories when every vehicle in a category should require the same qualification.
A vehicle can be affected by qualifications applied directly to that vehicle and qualifications applied to its vehicle category.
Assign a Driver
When you assign a driver to a trip, Moovs checks the requirements for the selected vehicle or vehicle category.
Drivers who are missing a required qualification are marked in the driver selector and Dispatch view.
Selecting that driver opens a Driver Assignment Conflict message listing the missing qualifications.
You can cancel and choose another driver, or click Assign to continue with the assignment.
Qualifications create a warning, not a hard block. Your team remains responsible for confirming that every driver is legally and operationally qualified before assignment.
Edit or Delete a Qualification
Go to Settings → Drivers → Qualifications.
Select a qualification from the list.
Update its name, optional description, color, drivers, or vehicles/categories, then save your changes.
To delete it, open the qualification and choose Delete Qualification. Deleting a qualification removes it from future qualification checks.
Limits and Best Practices
You can create up to 20 active qualifications.
Qualification names must be unique.
Use short, recognizable names such as CDL, Air Brakes, or Wheelchair Lift Trained.
Use the optional description to document your internal requirement.
Review driver qualifications whenever certifications, licenses, or training status changes.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the Qualifications tab
Confirm that your company is on a Pro plan or above. If the tab is still unavailable, contact Moovs Support through the chat.
A driver is incorrectly marked as missing a qualification
Open the qualification and confirm the driver is selected.
Confirm whether the requirement is applied directly to the vehicle or to its vehicle category.
Save any changes, then reopen the assignment selector.
I cannot create another qualification
An operator can have up to 20 active qualifications. Delete an unused qualification before creating another one.
