How to set up reminders for your differing slot types

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up reminders for services other than MOTs, using VGM's configuration options.

Configuring the reminder

  1. Go to Config > Slots > Slot types. Select and open the slot type for which you wish to set up reminders.

  2. In the selected slot type, navigate to the Messaging tab.

  3. Click New under the type of message you want to configure (Text, Email, or Printer).

  4. On the first page, give the message a name. Set the consent type (Refer to the Consent Types Guide for details).

  5. Go to the Content tab and input the message you’d like to send. The interface will vary slightly depending on the message type selected.

    On the content tab you can make use of the Insert tags to automatically pull in information such as customer name, vehicle make, model and reg, next booking date and more. This will add the information when the message is generated and sent out.

  6. Navigate to the Delivery tab.

    • Use the Booking date offset to specify when the next booking is expected (e.g., 1 year for an annual reminder).

    • Use the Delivery offset to specify how long before the next booking the reminder should be sent (e.g., -14 days for a reminder 2 weeks before the next booking).

    • Tick the send automatically box if you want these reminders to be sent automatically.

    • Click Save to finalize the reminder setup.

Updating Reminders

If you need to make adjustments to the message, booking date offset, or delivery offset, make the necessary changes. Ensure you tick the Update existing delivery dates option next to the save button to update the reminders that are already generated and scheduled to be sent.
