No — submitting your reason does not cancel your subscription
When you go through the cancellation flow in the Moves App, you'll be asked to select a reason for cancelling. The app even tells you: "Submitting your reason will not cancel your subscription."
This step helps us understand why you're leaving, but it is not the final cancellation. You must complete the next step to actually cancel.
What happens after you submit your reason
After submitting your reason, you'll see one of two screens depending on how you originally subscribed:
If you subscribed through movesapp.com
You'll be taken to a confirmation step to finalize your cancellation. Complete this step to cancel. You should receive a confirmation email once your cancellation is processed.
After cancelling, your account page will show an "access until [date]" message — this means you still have access through the end of your current billing period, but you will not be charged again.
If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play
You'll see a message: "To cancel, you'll need to use your phone's app store subscription settings. Nothing has been cancelled yet."
You must cancel directly through Apple or Google to stop being charged:
Apple: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Moves → Cancel Subscription
Google Play: Play Store → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Moves → Cancel
How do I know if I'm actually cancelled?
You're fully cancelled when:
You received a cancellation confirmation email from Moves, or
Your Moves account page shows "access until [date]" with no upcoming renewal, or
Your App Store or Google Play subscription page shows Moves as cancelled
If none of these apply, your subscription may still be active. Contact our support team and we can check your account status.
I thought I cancelled but I was still charged
If you were charged after going through the cancellation flow, it's likely the cancellation wasn't completed. See our article I Was Charged After Canceling My Subscription for next steps.
⚠️ Emailing our team does not cancel your account. If you've sent us an email asking to cancel, you'll still need to complete the steps above in the app. We're happy to help if you're having trouble — just know that an email alone won't process the cancellation.
