How to Cancel While Your Subscription Is Paused

Paused and want to cancel? Resume your subscription first — resuming does not charge you — and then you can cancel yourself in the app. Here are the steps.

If your Moves subscription is paused and you'd like to cancel, you can do this yourself in the app. Cancellation isn't available directly from a paused subscription, so there's one extra step first: resume, then cancel.

Resuming to cancel shouldn't charge you. Taking your subscription off pause doesn't trigger an immediate payment, so you can safely resume in order to cancel — as long as you complete the cancellation right away. If you resume and leave the subscription active, your billing picks back up as normal.

If you are charged when you resume to cancel, contact us — we may be able to refund it. This is the one exception to our standard no-refunds policy. We review these individually, and we'll need:

  • You to contact us within 24 hours of the charge, and

  • Your resume, cancellation and charge to fall on the same date — we can confirm this in your app activity.

Email support@movesapp.com as soon as you spot it and we'll get it sorted. Because of the 24-hour window, please don't wait — outside it we're bound by our usual Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Step 1: Resume your subscription

  1. Open the Moves App and go to Profile → Manage Subscription.

  2. Select the option to resume your subscription.

Your subscription is now active again, and the cancellation option becomes available. For more detail on this step, see How to Resume Your Subscription.

Step 2: Cancel your subscription

  1. Still in Profile → Manage Subscription, select Manage Subscription again.

  2. Log in with your email and password if prompted.

  3. Select Cancel Subscription.

  4. You'll be asked to choose a cancellation reason. Submitting your reason does not cancel your subscription — continue to the confirmation step that follows to finish.

⚠️ Check for your confirmation email. You should receive one once the cancellation has processed. If it doesn't arrive, the cancellation may not have completed — go back and check that your account page shows "access until [date]" with no upcoming renewal. See I Submitted My Cancellation Reason — Am I Cancelled?

Why can't I cancel while I'm still paused?

Pausing and cancelling are two separate states on your subscription. A paused subscription has no active billing cycle to close out, so the cancellation flow needs the subscription to be active first. Resuming restores that active state — at no cost to you — which is why it's the first step rather than a risk.

What happens after you cancel

  • You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Your account page will show "access until [date]".

  • You won't be charged again.

  • Your logged workouts and progress stay saved, so nothing is lost if you decide to come back.

If you see a charge after resuming

If the charge date matches the date you resumed and cancelled, it may be eligible for a refund under this exception. Email support@movesapp.com within 24 hours with the charge date and amount, and we'll review it.

If you were charged while your subscription was still paused, that shouldn't happen either — please let us know. See also I Was Charged After Canceling My Subscription.
