What to do if a product is missing or has incorrect nutrition data in the app

How to log foods, use AI tools, and handle missing or inaccurate entries

How to add a missing product🔍

If you’re unable to find a specific branded product in the database, or a barcode scan returns 0 calories or no nutrition data, it usually means that the product isn’t currently available in our database. In this case, you can add it using the New Food option, available below the search bar.

You can use it in two ways:

  1. Enter the food name and nutrition details manually from the label.

  2. Scan the nutrition label and product name to automatically capture the data — you'll be able to adjust the amount of calories, fats, carbs, protein, and other macros, as well as the serving size, if necessary:

Once saved, the item will appear in My Foods section below the search bar for easy reuse:

By adding custom products, you also help improve and expand our database — thank you for your contribution.

Using AI text recognition for faster logging💡

You can also use AI recognition tool to search for products or meals. It works especially well for common products (like milk, eggs, vegetables), home-cooked meals, or when searching in a language other than English.

Simply type the product or meal into the search bar and tap the star icon ✨. The entry will be logged automatically with calculated calories and macros, and you can adjust the serving size as needed:

AI photo recognition and data accuracy 📸

AI photo food recognition may sometimes struggle with:

  • Lighting, packaging, or photo angles

  • Mixed meals (e.g., restaurant dishes like IKEA meals)

  • Low-fat vs full-fat versions of similar products

  • Specific regional or less common foods

If you notice missing macros or larger calorie differences, it usually means the AI wasn’t fully confident in the match. For the most accurate results, we recommend checking and adjusting the entry manually when needed — or taking a clearer photo with good lighting and a visible label.

About database entries 📂

At the same time, you may occasionally see branded products in the database with zero or missing nutrition values. These entries are often submitted manually by other users and may not always be fully completed and accurate.

When this happens, it’s best to double-check the label and correct the values during logging. To ensure the most accurate tracking, we recommend creating your own entry using New Food option instead of relying on existing incomplete data.

With these tools and tips, logging your food becomes easier, more flexible, and more accurate over time. Even small adjustments in how you add entries can go a long way in keeping your nutrition data clear, consistent, and reliable!
