Mac OS Thermal Printer Setup for SKU & FNSKU Labels (Off-Brand Printers)

This guide will walk you through the recommended setup for off-brand thermal printers on Mac OS to ensure your SKU and FNSKU labels print correctly in AccelerList.

Updated this week

Since AccelerList does not directly support all printer brands, this setup uses a workaround by renaming your printer and configuring settings properly.

1. Download and Install QZ Tray, then Open Printer Settings in AccelerList

First, make sure you download and install QZ Tray.

Then navigate to:
Settings → Printer → SKU + FNSKU Labels

2. Rename Your Printer to “Dymo” (Important Workaround)

To ensure compatibility with AccelerList:

  • Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners

  • Select your printer

  • Rename it to: Dymo

⚠️ This step is required for off-brand printers to be recognized properly.

3. Configure Your Printer Settings in AccelerList

Make sure your settings match the following:

  • Active Printer: Dymo

  • Printer Driver Config: Dymo LW 450 series 300x600 dpi (Best, default value)

  • Orientation: Landscape

  • Label Type: Match your label size

✅ Supported Label Sizes:

  • 30334 — 2 1/4" x 1 1/4"

  • 30336 — 1" x 2-1/8"

  • 30252 — 1-1/8" x 3-1/2"

  • Or any label size that matches these dimensions

⚠️ Using unsupported sizes may cause alignment or sizing issues.

✅ Click Save Changes

4. Configure Printer Settings via CUPS (Mac)

If label sizes are missing or not aligning correctly:

Open CUPS:

If it doesn’t load:

  • Open Terminal

  • Run:

sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Then:

  • Click Printers

  • Select your printer (Dymo)

  • Click Administration → Set Default Options

Set:

  • Media Size / Paper Size: Match your label

  • Resolution: 300 x 600 dpi

  • Orientation: Landscape

Save the settings.

5. Configure Labels in Printer Software (Optional)

If labels are still misaligned:

  • Open your printer software (if available)

  • Adjust:

    • Label dimensions

    • Margins

    • Layout settings

Then run a test print.

6. Print a Test Label in AccelerList

  • Go back to AccelerList

  • Click Print Test Label

  • Confirm:

    • Proper alignment

    • Correct size

    • Clear print

Quick Reminder ✅

For best results:

  • This setup is for SKU + FNSKU labels only

  • Rename your printer to Dymo

  • Use supported label sizes (30334, 30336, 30252)

  • Install and run QZ Tray

  • Set resolution to 300 x 600 dpi

  • Keep orientation set to Landscape

  • Ensure CUPS and AccelerList settings match

If everything is set correctly, your off-brand printer should now work properly with AccelerList for SKU & FNSKU label printing 👍
