Off-Brand Thermal Printer Setup on Mac (MF Ticketing Labels | AccelerList Guide)

This guide will walk you through how to properly set up an off-brand thermal printer on macOS for printing MF Location (Ticketing) labels in AccelerList.

Updated yesterday

Since AccelerList does not directly support all printer brands, this setup uses a Dymo workaround + CUPS configuration to ensure your printer works correctly.

1. Install and Run QZ Tray (Required)

Before setting up your printer, make sure QZ Tray is installed and running.

QZ Tray allows AccelerList to communicate with your printer.

  • Download and install QZ Tray

  • Open QZ Tray

  • Make sure it is running in your menu bar (top right)

πŸ‘‰ If QZ Tray is not running, printing will not work. To guide you about QZ Tray, please click the button below

2. Confirm Your Printer Works on Mac

Before connecting to AccelerList:

  • Go to System Settings β†’ Printers & Scanners

  • Select your printer

  • Print a test page

βœ… Only proceed if the printer works correctly

3. Rename Printer to β€œDymo” (Required Workaround)

To allow AccelerList to recognize your off-brand printer:

  • Go to System Settings β†’ Printers & Scanners

  • Select your printer

  • Rename it to: Dymo

πŸ‘‰ This step is required for off-brand printers to work with AccelerList

4. Enable CUPS Web Interface

  • Open Terminal

  • Enter:

    sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes
  • Press Enter

  • Enter your Mac password if prompted

5. Open CUPS Printer Settings

6. Enable Continuous Label in CUPS (Important)

In CUPS:

  • Click Administration

  • Select Set Default Options

Set the following:

  • Media Size / Paper Size: Match your label (Dymo 30270 or equivalent)

  • Media Type: Labels

  • Enable Continuous / Continuous Feed / Continuous Wide

⚠️ Important:

  • This must be configured in CUPS, not in Mac printer preferences

  • Incorrect setup may cause:

    • Continuous feeding

    • Misaligned labels

    • Printing errors

7. Save Settings

  • Click Set Default Options / Save

  • Enter your Mac username and password if prompted

8. Configure Printer in AccelerList

Go to:
Settings β†’ Printer β†’ MF Ticketing

Set:

  • Active Printer: Dymo (renamed printer)

  • Label Type: Dymo 30270 (Continuous)

  • Orientation: Adjust if needed

βœ… Click Save Changes

9. Run a Test Print

  • Go back to AccelerList

  • Click Print Test Label

Check:

  • Label spacing

  • Alignment

  • Proper stopping

10. Restart If Needed

If printing does not work:

  • Restart your printer

  • Restart your Mac

  • Reopen QZ Tray

  • Refresh AccelerList

Quick Reminder βœ…

For best results:

  • QZ Tray must be running

  • Rename your printer to Dymo

  • Select Dymo as your active printer in AccelerList

  • Use Dymo 30270 continuous labels (or matching size)

  • Enable Continuous Label in CUPS (not printer preferences)
