Mac Configuration Guide for Brother QL-800 / QL-700 (MF Location Ticket Printing)

This guide walks you through setting up your Brother QL-800 / QL-700 printer on macOS to properly print MF Location (Ticketing) labels in AccelerList.

Updated yesterday

MF ticketing uses continuous labels, so proper setup is important to avoid issues like continuous feeding, misalignment, or incorrect label sizing.

1. Install and Run QZ Tray (Required)

Before setting up your printer, make sure QZ Tray is installed and running.

QZ Tray is required for AccelerList to communicate with your printer.

  • Install QZ Tray

  • Open it and make sure it is running in the menu bar (top right)

  • Refresh AccelerList after opening

πŸ‘‰ If QZ Tray is not running, printing will not work

2. Open AccelerList in Chrome (Recommended)

  • Close the AccelerList desktop app (if open)

  • Open Google Chrome

  • Log in to AccelerList

Using Chrome helps ensure proper communication with QZ Tray.

3. Open Printer Settings in AccelerList

Navigate to:
Settings β†’ Printer β†’ MF Ticketing

4. Configure Printer Settings in AccelerList

Set the following:

  • Active Printer: Brother QL-800 / QL-700

  • Printer Driver Config: Select available Brother config

  • Orientation: Portrait

  • Label Type: Dymo 30270 (Continuous)

βœ… Click Save Changes

5. Set Printer as Default (Mac)

  • Go to System Settings β†’ Printers & Scanners

  • Select your Brother printer

  • Set it as the default printer

This helps AccelerList and QZ Tray detect the correct printer.

6. Enable CUPS Web Interface

  • Open Terminal

  • Enter:

    sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes
  • Press Enter

  • Enter your Mac password if prompted

7. Configure Continuous Label in CUPS (Important)

Then:

  • Click Administration

  • Select Set Default Options

Set:

  • Media Size / Paper Size: Match Dymo 30270 (or equivalent continuous size)

  • Media Type: Labels

  • Enable Continuous / Continuous Feed / Continuous Wide

⚠️ Important:

  • This must be set in CUPS, not in regular printer preferences

  • Incorrect setup may cause:

    • Continuous feeding

    • Misaligned labels

    • Printing issues

8. Connect AccelerList to QZ Tray

  • In AccelerList, open printer settings

  • Select your printer

  • When prompted, click Allow / Trust

9. Print a Test Label

  • Click Print Test Label in AccelerList

Confirm:

  • Labels stop correctly

  • Alignment is correct

  • No continuous feed issues

10. Troubleshooting (If Test Print Fails)

If printing does not work:

  • Restart QZ Tray and refresh AccelerList

  • Confirm printer is still set as default

  • Recheck CUPS settings (continuous enabled)

  • Restart your Mac if needed

Quick Reminder βœ…

For best results:

  • Use Dymo 30270 continuous labels (or matching size)

  • Enable Continuous Label in CUPS (not printer preferences)

  • Ensure QZ Tray is running

  • Use Google Chrome

  • Set printer as default
