Amazon API Update: Known Issues & Workarounds

This document outlines current known issues related to Amazon’s new API and how they impact third-party applications like AccelerList. As these issues affect multiple platforms, we’ll continue to update this guide regularly to keep you informed.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

⚠️ Known Issue: generateTransportationOptions Failure

One of the primary issues observed is with the generateTransportationOptions step in Amazon’s new workflow.

In the updated “Scan it, Pack it, Ship it” process:

  • You cannot access FNSKU labels until reaching the box content stage

  • You cannot proceed to box content without successfully generating transportation options

When this step fails, it blocks the entire shipment workflow.

Why This Happens

This issue is particularly challenging because it is:

  • Intermittent – it may work sometimes and fail other times

  • Not isolated – affects multiple third-party applications

  • API-related – originates from Amazon’s backend, outside of our control

Because of this, it’s difficult to consistently reproduce and fully resolve.

Current Status

  • We are actively testing workarounds and improvements on our end

  • Amazon’s team is also working on improving error messaging and stability

  • This remains an ongoing issue across the ecosystem

Additional Context

Due to the impact of this API update, several listing tools in the market were unable to adapt and had to discontinue their services. While we were prepared for the transition, some of the current challenges are caused by unexpected API behavior.

What to Expect

We will continue to monitor this issue closely and provide updates as new fixes or improvements become available.

Summary:
This is a known Amazon API limitation affecting shipment workflows, and while we are implementing workarounds where possible, a full resolution depends on Amazon-side improvements.
