Amazon Catalog API Changes and Product Lookup Issues

Explains how Amazon catalog responses and API-related issues can affect product searches and scanning within AccelerList.

How Product Lookup Works

When you scan or search for an ISBN, UPC, EAN, or ASIN, AccelerList communicates with Amazon to retrieve available catalog information.

Because this information comes from Amazon, changes or temporary problems with Amazon's API can affect what AccelerList receives.

What You May Experience

An API or catalog lookup issue may result in:

  • A product not being found

  • A product taking longer than expected to appear

  • The same item appearing after several search attempts

  • Incomplete product information

  • Intermittent search results

What Should I Do?

If an item isn't found:

  1. Verify the ISBN, UPC, EAN, or ASIN.

  2. Try searching for the product again.

  3. Try manually entering the identifier instead of scanning it.

  4. Confirm that you're using the correct Amazon marketplace.

  5. Test another known product.

If one product fails but other products work normally, the issue may be specific to that catalog entry.

If many or all products fail, contact AccelerList Support so the issue can be investigated further.
