Introduction

Our app’s integration with Apple Watch ensures a seamless training experience. This article guides you through setting up, using, and troubleshooting the Apple Watch integration.

Setting Up Apple Watch Integration

App Installation

App Installation

  1. Automatic Installation: The app is often installed automatically on your Apple Watch when it’s installed on your iPhone.

  2. Manual Installation: If not, you can find the app in the App Store on your Apple Watch.

  3. Initial Launch: Open the app on your Apple Watch and follow the on-screen instructions to grant necessary permissions.

Granting Permissions

  • Required Permissions: When you launch the app for the first time, you’ll see an overlay requesting the following permissions:

    • Access to Apple Health.

    • Permission to write workouts to Apple Health.

  • Manually Setting Permissions: Go to:

    • Settings on your iPhone ➔ Apple Health ➔ Data Access & Devices ➔ Our App ➔ Enable all permissions.

    • Apple Health app ➔ Click on your profile picture at the top ➔ Click on "Apps" ➔ Go to MyFitCoach ➔ Enable all permissions.

    • Alternatively: Open MyFitCoach ➔ Profile ➔ Gear icon in the top right corner ➔ Apple Health ➔ Enable all permissions.

Using the Apple Watch Integration

Starting and Finishing Workouts

  • Automatic Start/End: You have to start your workout on your iPhone first. Workouts start and end automatically if your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone and the workout is initiated via the iPhone app. After you have finished all of the sets for your workout come back to your iPhone to finish the workout.

  • Syncing with Apple Health:

    • Workout data syncs automatically.

    • Note: Syncing may take longer if using the Apple Watch during workouts.

  • Tip: If a workout is started with the iPhone only, the iPhone records all the data (no heart rate and calories). Adding the Apple Watch mid-workout excludes earlier data.

Troubleshooting Issues with Apple Watch Integration

Checking the Connection Between Watch and iPhone

  • Connection Status:

    • A red iPhone icon on your Apple Watch indicates no connection.

    • Ensure the devices are physically close. The workout is only possible if your iPhone stays nearby.

    • Wait to see if the connection is restored automatically.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Restart Devices:

    • Restart the Apple Watch first.

    • If unresolved, restart your iPhone.

    • If needed, restart both devices.

  2. Restart the App:

    • Finish the workout.

    • Restart the MyFitCoach app on both the Watch and iPhone.

    • Start the workout again.

  3. Reinstall the App:

    • Reinstall the app on both devices if previous steps fail.
