How nutrition tracking works

Currently, MyFitCoach does not offer direct food tracking within the app. Instead, we deliberately focus on a flexible, macronutrient-based coaching system that adapts to your progress and individual goals. If you want to track your nutrition, you can use one of the common tracking apps such as MyFitnessPal, Lifesum, YAZIO or FDDB and manually transfer the values into MyFitCoach. We know this extra step isn't ideal – but we're actively working on offering a built-in, automated tracking feature in the future.

Additionally, the MyFitCoach app features advanced AI-based personalization. This technology evaluates your progress and updates your calorie targets dynamically, ensuring your nutrition plans align with your goals.

Automatic synchronization (Apple Health / Health Connect)

Good news: For both iOS and Android devices, synchronization via Apple Health or Health Connect is already available. This allows many tracking values to be automatically imported if you log your nutrition in a compatible app.

Activate or deactivate tracking

You can activate or deactivate nutrition tracking at any time in your Nutrition Profile (three-dot menu in the top right corner of the Nutrition tab) – depending on your personal preferences.

What you can configure in the Nutrition Profile

The Nutrition Profile offers a range of personalized settings to make your coaching even more accurate:

This includes AI-driven calculations that adapt your individual calorie targets based on changes in your body weight and activity levels, providing a more tailored nutritional experience.

  • Goal: Build muscle, lose fat, or focus on recomposition

  • Diet preference: Mixed, vegetarian or vegan → appropriate recipes will be shown (top left via the "chef’s hat" icon)

  • Tracking experience: If you're already tracking precisely (macros + weight), you can enter your data here
⚠️ Only activate this if you're confident in your numbers – otherwise your calorie target may be affected

  • Daily activity level: From mostly sedentary to physically demanding work

  • Macronutrient preferences: Protein, fat and carbohydrates – individually adjustable (low, moderate, high)

  • Step tracking: Can also be activated – for even more precise calorie calculations

All of this information is used to calculate your individual calorie target. The more regularly and accurately you track (macros, weight, steps), the more precise the app’s recommendations will be – making it much easier to stay on track.

Moreover, the AI continuously learns from your tracked data to refine your recommendations, providing ever-improving precision over time.

Dynamic coaching instead of rigid meal plans

In addition, MyFitCoach offers access to a variety of practical, high-protein recipes complete with nutritional information. These are designed to complement your macronutrient-based coaching and can be easily accessed within the app through the "chef's hat" icon.

We’ve deliberately chosen not to offer traditional, rigid meal plans. Why?

Because for most people, they are not sustainable or flexible enough in everyday life. Our experience – both in app development and 1:1 coaching – shows that a dynamic, adaptable nutrition system is far more effective.

With our macronutrient-based coaching, you can:

  • still enjoy your favorite meals

  • eat out at restaurants

  • and still stay on track

The app continuously adjusts your calorie goals – based on your progress in weight, macros and activity.

This personalization leverages AI to dynamically adapt to your changing needs, ensuring that your target goals remain optimal as you progress.

Focus on the essentials

You don’t need to get lost in micromanagement. Focus on the basics – that’s more than enough:

  • Monitor your calorie intake

  • Balance your macronutrients

  • Stay physically active

  • Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits & berries

  • Prioritize high-quality protein & healthy fats

  • Train with progressive overload

That’s exactly where MyFitCoach comes in – like a personal coach who supports you daily in reaching your goals.
