What to Do If You're Having Trouble with MFA Verification

Written by Danielle Constantine

If you're having trouble with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on myHSA, the steps to resolve it depend on your account type. Advisors and Plan Admins use an authenticator app (mandatory as of July 2, 2026); employees can use email or text verification or an authenticator app.

Advisors and Plan Administrators

As an Advisor or Plan Admin, your 6-digit code is generated by an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) - it is not sent by email. Here's how to fix common issues:

QR code not showing? Refresh the page, clear your browser cache, or try a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). If it still doesn't appear, contact support and we can reset your authenticator connection.

Haven't installed an authenticator app yet? Download Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator (free on iOS and Android), then return to the myHSA login page to scan the QR code.

Code being rejected? Make sure you're entering the code labelled 'myHSA' in your app (not a different account). Codes expire every 30 seconds so enter it immediately after it refreshes. For persistent rejections, look for a 'Sync time' option in your authenticator app's settings.

Still stuck? Contact us via live chat or at support@getmyhsa.com and we'll reset your authenticator connection.

Employees

If you're an Employee and not receiving your verification code by email, the code is usually being delayed or filtered.

Here are a couple of quick steps to help you troubleshoot the issue as an employee:

1. Check Your Junk or Spam Folder: Sometimes, verification emails get filtered into junk or spam folders. Be sure to double-check there first. Consider adding info@getmyhsa.com to your safe senders list or whitelist in your email settings.

2. Ensure Your Email Address is Correct: Double-check the email address associated with your account. If there's a typo, the code may have been sent to the wrong place.

3. Wait a Few Minutes: Occasionally, there can be a slight delay in email delivery. Wait a few minutes and try requesting the code again.

4. Resend the Code: Try clicking 'Resend Code' to get a fresh one.

5. Check for Blocked Emails: If you're using a work email address, it's possible that the email could be blocked by your company’s email filters. You might want to ask your IT department to ensure emails from @getmyhsa.com are not blocked.

6. Still No Code?: If you've followed these steps and still haven't received the code, we’re here to help! You can reach out to us via live chat or send an email to support@getmyhsa.com and we’ll assist you as quickly as possible.
