At myHSA, we aim to make the process of submitting claims as straightforward as possible. However, it’s important to understand the rules regarding moving claims between your Wellness Spending Account (WSA) and Health Spending Account (HSA). Here’s what you need to know.
Claims Cannot Be Moved Between Accounts
Once a claim is submitted, it cannot be moved from your WSA to your HSA, or vice versa. This is because they pull from different balances and are taxed differently.
What to Do If You Need to Change the Account
If you wish to change the account from which your claim is pulled, you will need to:
Cancel the Existing Claim: Go to your "View Claims" tab and click "edit" next to the claim. From there, you can cancel the claim.
Resubmit the Claim: Submit a new claim under the correct account (WSA or HSA) with all the necessary documentation.
Important Considerations
Double-Check Before Submitting: To avoid the need for cancellations, always double-check that you are submitting your claim to the correct account (WSA or HSA). You can tell it is a WSA category if it says (Taxable) beside it. If it doesn't say (Taxable), it is an HSA category.
Documentation: Ensure you have all necessary receipts and documentation ready for the new claim submission.
