Overview

Logiwa IO introduces a feature to handle products that are shipped in their own boxes rather than using standard shipment package types.

This feature allows users to configure products to be packed in their own boxes and eliminates the need to manually select a Shipment Package Type during the packing process.

This functionality is activated through a toggle on the Product screen and simplifies the packing process for certain products.

"Item's Own Box" Shipment Package Type

  • A default Shipment Package Type named "Item's Own Box" is automatically created on the backend for each warehouse.

  • This package type is distinguished from other Shipment Package Types with a special flag and cannot be seen in the Shipment Packages grid or in Package Type dropdown lists.

  • "Item's Own Box" package type is only used on the Packing screen when a product with the Use Item's Own Box for Shipping toggle enabled is scanned.

Product Configuration

  • On the Product screen, under the Pack Type settings, there is a toggle called Use Item's Own Box for Shipping.

  • When this toggle is enabled, the user is required to enter the Length, Width, Height, and Weight of the product for correct product configuration.

  • Enabling this toggle signals to the packing process that the product will be packed in its own box, and the user will not need to select a Shipment Package Type on the Packing screen.

Packing Screen General Rules

  • Shipment Package Type: "Item's Own Box" package type will not appear in the Shipment Package Type dropdown unless a product is setup as Use Item's Own Box for Shipping: TRUE is scanned.

  • Icon Display: If the product is setup as Use Item's Own Box for Shipping: TRUE, an icon will appear next to the product on the Packing screen to indicate it will be shipped in its own box.

  • Pack All & Line-Based Pack Restrictions:

    • If any product in the order has Use Item's Own Box for Shipping enabled, the user will not be able to use the "Pack All" until all products with this setting are packed individually.

    • If any product in the order has Use Item's Own Box for Shipping enabled, the packer will not be able to pack multiple quantities for that product by using line-based "Pack" button.

Scenarios on the Packing Screen

Scenario 1: Single Item Order with "Item with Box" enabled

Once the product is scanned:

  • Shipment Package Type will automatically be set to "Item's Own Box".

  • Length, Width, Height, and Weight fields will be populated based on the product's configured dimensions and weight.

  • Shipment Package Type dropdown will be grayed out so that the packer cannot change it.

Scenario 2: Multi-Item Order with only "Item with Box" products

After scanning the first product:

  • Shipment Package Type will automatically be set to "Item's Own Box".

  • Length, Width, Height, and Weight fields will be populated based on the product's configured dimensions and weight.

  • Shipment Package Type dropdown will be grayed out so that the packer cannot change it.

Once the next product is scanned, Close Pack button will be auto-triggered , even if "Prevent Multiple Packages" is enabled.

Scenario 3: Multi-Item Order with both "Item with Box" and normal products

If the packer starts packing the order by scanning a regular product:

  • The user can continue scanning other regular products into the same shipment package.

  • The weight will be calculated based on the scanned product’s weight and the LP type’s empty weight.

  • Shipment Package Type and dimensions will be filled based on the LP type.

However, if the packer scans an "Item with Box" product:

  • Shipment Package Type will automatically be set to "Item's Own Box".

  • Length, Width, Height, and Weight fields will be populated based on the product's configured dimensions and weight.

  • Shipment Package Type dropdown will be grayed out so that the packer cannot change it.

Once the next product is scanned, Close Pack button will be auto-triggered , even if "Prevent Multiple Packages" is enabled.
