This guide explains how to use the new Order-Level Packing Warning Types feature. This enhancement provides more flexibility by allowing you to trigger warning pop-ups based on specific order criteria, in addition to the existing product-level settings.
Understanding Order-Level Packing Warnings
This feature introduces the ability to assign a pre-defined packing warning directly to an entire shipment order. Previously, warnings were solely based on the type of products in the order. Now, you can ensure crucial handling instructions are displayed for particular orders, regardless of the individual items they contain.
The users that need to display packing warnings for specific orders, not just for every order containing a certain product type can enable this feature that gives you a granular control.
How to Use Order-Level Packing Warnings
Setting Packing Warning Types in the Data Setup Screen:
Fields | Explanation | Limit |
Warning Type Name* | A mandatory field to describe the warning type.
Ex. “Flammable Material Warning” | Maximum 100 characters |
Warning Type Description | Optional field for a more detailed description of the warning type. | Maximum 250 characters |
Packing Warning Text | The warning message that is to be displayed at the packing station.
Ex. “This package contains flammable material. Handle with care! Ensure proper labeling, secure packaging, and compliance with all shipping regulations. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames.” | Maximum 1000 characters |
Show Warning When* | A dropdown that shows different options for when the popup will be shown on the Packing screen. 1) Order is Displayed on Packing
2) Close Pack is Triggered
3) Product is Scanned:
|
|
Skip Confirmation from Packer | TRUE: The warning popup disappears automatically after 10 seconds. FALSE: The user must confirm the warning message. |
|
Image | Up to 3 images can be uploaded to display on the warning popup. | Maximum file size: 5MB |
Media Link
| A button on the popup can direct users to an external guide or additional information. Only one URL can be added. | Maximum 2000 characters |
2. Assigning an Order-Level Warning:
New Field: You'll find a new field on the Shipment Order screen. This allows you to select a Packing Warning Type that will apply to the entire order.
Multiple Methods for Assignment:
Manual (UI): Directly select the desired Packing Warning Type from the dropdown in the Shipment Order screen.
API: Utilize API requests to assign (or update) the Packing Warning Type for an order.
Excel Import: The Excel import template for shipment orders now includes a field to specify the order-level Packing Warning Type.
Workflow Automation: Integrate this new field into your Workflows. This means you can automatically assign specific Packing Warning Types to orders based on conditions you define (e.g., destination, customer, specific SKUs included).
3. How it Behaves on the Packing Screen:
Order-Level Priority: The system first checks if a Packing Warning Type is assigned at the order level.
Immediate Display: If an order-level warning is present, its corresponding pop-up will be displayed as soon as the order is opened on the Packing screen. This happens regardless of the "Show Warning When" setting configured for that Packing Warning Type in Data Setup.
Product-Level Check: If no order-level warning is assigned to the order, the system will then check for any product-level warnings (based on the Product Type of items in the order), just as it did before.
Multiple Warnings (Order & Product): If an order has both an order-level Packing Warning Type assigned AND contains products that trigger product-level warnings, both pop-ups will be shown consecutively on the packing screen. The order-level warning will appear first.
