Rate Shopping Guide

Rate Shopping allows you to compare shipping rates from multiple carriers at once by using presets—custom groups of shipping services you choose in advance.

You can create different presets with various carriers and apply them to orders at the Packing Station or Create Label Screen. This helps you quickly find the best shipping option for each order. To learn more about packing with Logiwa, please see our guide.

Create Rate Shopping Presets

  • Rate shopping presets can be created by first visiting the Rate Shopping screen.

    • To easily reach this screen, you can search with the Rate keyword to locate it or go to the Automation > Rate Shopping Screen

  • Once on the Rate Shopping screen, click the Create Rate Shopping Preset button to begin

General Information

  • The General Information for the new rate shopping preset should be filled (descriptions of each field below):

Field

Description

Preset Name*

The name of the rate shopping preset that will be shown in the system. Required.

Preset Description*

An additional text field to write a description or additional details of the preset. Required.

Warehouse*

The warehouse where the rate shopping preset can be applied. Required.

Client*

The client access selection defines for which client's orders the rate shopping preset can be applied. Required.

Active/Inactive

Each rate shopping preset can be activated or deactivated by using this toggle. Deactivated presets do not appear on screens where shipment rates and labels are acquired. Set to Active by default.

  • After filling in the required information, click Next to proceed.

Settings

In the second step, the rate shopping preset settings should be selected. This includes the Rate Calculation Method and the Error Message settings.

Rate Calculation Methods

Each created rate shopping preset should be based on one calculation method.

  • First, select the calculation method needed.

  • There are 3 different calculation methods available as explained below:

    • Cheapest: The cheapest rate will be selected from rates available in the selected rate shopping preset.

    • Fastest: The rate with the shortest transit time will be selected from rates available in the selected rate shopping preset.

      • Please note, only shipping services that provide transit time information can be added to presets with this calculation method.

    • Cheapest in Time: This calculation method finds the lowest shipping rate that fulfills the order's expected delivery date (if available) or the entered Transit Time, which is selected using the bar below the Rate Calculation Method options once Cheapest in Time has been selected (shown below).

      • Please note, only shipping services that provide transit time information can be added to presets with this calculation method.

      • This method initially checks if the applied shipment order has the Expected Delivery Date filled.

        • If yes, the cheapest rate is suggested from rates in the preset that meets the order's expected delivery date.

        • If the applied order does not have the Expected Delivery Date field filled, then the cheapest rate is suggested from rates in the preset that fulfills the given Transit Time set by the user.

      • If a shipping service does not return the transit time information when a rate is acquired for order(s), then this service will not be considered among other rates in the preset.

Error Messages

In this next section, you'll set whether the system displays an error message when there is an issue with rate shopping.

When the Get Rate action is applied to shipment order(s) and any rate shopping preset is selected, occasionally some services may fail to provide rate information temporarily. On such occasions, Logiwa can inform you if there are any shipping options that failed to provide rates among the selected rate shopping preset.

  • To receive error messages as described above, please select the Show Error Messages option.

  • To proceed with rate shopping without receiving error messages for this preset, select the Do Not Show Error Messages option.

  • Once you've made your selection, click Next to proceed.

Selecting Shipment Methods

The last step of creating a rate shopping preset is to select which shipping options to include.

  • Choose between the 2 options available regarding how to setup this preset's shipping services.

Use All Available Services

This option automatically adds all available shipping services to the preset.

Please note that the Use All Available Services option can be only used for presets created with the Cheapest rate calculation method.

Select Manually

If you disable use all available services, this option allows users to add shipping options manually, one by one.

  • To enable a shipment method manually, click the Select toggle for that option in the list of available options, as shown below.

  • Shipping options in this table are listed under below conditions:

    • Shipping options that are defined in the preset's warehouse are listed.

    • Shipping options of carrier setups that are accessed by the preset's client are listed.

    • If the Fastest or Cheapest in Time methods are selected, then only shipping services that provide transit time information will be listed among the shipping options that fulfill the above mentioned 2 conditions.

  • Shipping options can also be searched or filtered in this table.

  • Once you've made the desired selections, click Save at the bottom of the screen to create the rate shopping preset.

  • You will receive a confirmation message when the preset has been created.
