Overview
The LP Numbers screen allows for the management of individual License Plates (LPs) within the warehouse. While LP Types define the physical characteristics (e.g., dimensions, weight) of a container, LP Numbers represent the specific, unique identifiers assigned to actual pallets, totes, or boxes.
From this screen, new LPs can be created manually, generated via sequence, or created as compliant SSCC-18 barcodes. Additionally, secondary identifiers can be assigned using the Alternate Barcode field.
Accessing the Screen
To access this module:
Navigate to the Configuration menu.
Select the LP Numbers tab.
The grid displays all existing LPs, including columns for LP Number, LP Type, Physical Attributes and Alternate Barcode.
Creating New LP Numbers
You can create new License Plates (LPs) using four different methods depending on your operational needs: Automatic Sequence, Manual Entry (Custom), SSCC-18 Compliance, or Bulk Import via Excel.
UI Creation Methods (Methods A, B, C)
For individual or small-batch creation directly in the interface, start with these initial steps:
Click the Create LP Number button on the top right of the screen.
Warehouse: Select the warehouse where these LPs will be located.
LP Type: Select the container type (e.g., Pallet, Tote).
Note: The new LPs will automatically inherit the dimensions, weight, and volume defined in this LP Type.
Location: Select the location in the defined warehouse where new LP number(s) will be created.
Once the initial setup is complete, choose your specific generation method:
Method A: From Sequence (Automatic)
Best for: Standard internal LPs where you want the system to generate the IDs.
Set the LP Number Creation Method toggle to From Sequence.
Result: The system will ignore manual input and automatically generate the LP Numbers using the Prefix and Length rules defined in your LP Type configuration.
Note: The Alternate Barcode field is hidden in this mode because the system is generating the primary ID automatically.
Method B: Custom Numbers (Manual)
Best for: Pre-printed labels, carrier-provided containers, or specific tracking numbers.
Set the LP Number Creation Method toggle to Custom Numbers.
LP Number: Manually enter the primary ID you wish to assign to this LP.
Alternate Barcode: (Optional) Enter a secondary barcode here (e.g., a FedEx tracking number or vendor barcode).
Operational Benefit: Once saved, you can scan EITHER the LP Number OR the Alternate Barcode on mobile devices to identify this container, for transfer-putaway, loading and LP lookup functionalities.
Method C: SSCC-18 (GS1 Compliant)
Best for: Outbound pallets requiring GS1-128 compliance for retailer shipments.
Set the Created as SSCC18 toggle to Yes.
Client: Select the Client associated with these goods.
Prerequisite: This Client must have a valid GS1 Company Prefix and Serial Number defined in their Client Setup.
Result: The system will generate a 16-digit container code that complies with GS1 standards, overriding the standard LP Type sequence.

Bulk Creation Method (Method D)
Method D: Excel Import
Best for: Initializing large batches of pre-labeled containers, migrating data, or bulk-assigning Alternate Barcodes.
Click the Import LP Number button on the top right of the screen1.
Download the Excel Template via the Download button.
Populate the columns as defined below. Green columns in the template are mandatory.
Column Header | Mandatory? | Description |
Warehouse Code | Yes | The code of the warehouse where the LP will exist. Must match an existing warehouse in the system. |
LP Type Code | Yes | The code of the LP Type (e.g., Pallet, Tote) to assign to this LP. Must be defined in the system. |
LP Number | Yes | The unique primary identifier for the License Plate. |
Alternate Barcode | No | An optional secondary barcode for the LP. Must be unique within the warehouse. |
Upload the file back to the system.
Validations: The system will reject the import if:
The LP Number or Alternate Barcode already exists in the warehouse (Uniqueness Check).
The Warehouse Code or LP Type Code does not exist in the system.
The column headers in the file have been altered.
Alternate Barcode Functionality
The Alternate Barcode acts as a secondary alias for the License Plate.
1. Automated Population via FedEx
If you utilize the FedEx carrier integration, the system automatically captures the FEDEX_1D barcode string from the carrier's label response and saves it into the Alternate Barcode field of the associated LP.
2. Operational Usage
Once an Alternate Barcode is saved, warehouse operators can scan either the primary LP Number OR the Alternate Barcode interchangeably on mobile devices to perform:
Mobile Loading: Finding and executing loading tasks.
Transfers: Identifying LPs during inventory transfer.
Putaway: Directing LPs to storage locations.
LP Lookup: Retrieving inventory details.
3. Validation Rules
To ensure data integrity, the system enforces strict uniqueness rules for the Alternate Barcode field:
Unique across Alternate Barcodes: Two LPs cannot share the same Alternate Barcode.
Unique across LP Codes: An Alternate Barcode cannot match an existing primary LP Number.
Unique across Location Codes: An Alternate Barcode cannot match an existing Location Code.
Editing an LP Number
Existing LPs can be updated to modify dimensions, weight, or add an Alternate Barcode.
Locate the LP in the grid.
Click the Actions menu (three dots) and select Edit.
Alternate Barcode: This field is always visible during editing. Values can be added, modified, or cleared.
Dimensions/Weight/Volume: Specific physical characteristics for this individual LP can be adjusted here.
Click Save to apply changes.
Printing LP Labels
Labels for existing License Plates can be generated directly from the grid.
Select the checkbox next to the LP Number(s).
Click the Print Barcode button.
Select the desired Printout Template.
Note: For SSCC-18 LPs, ensure you select a template designed to display the GS1-128 barcode format.
