One-by-One Transfers & Lock Source Location

Use One-by-One mode to transfer or put away single units by scanning only, and Lock Source Location to keep the same bin or tote filled in between scans, on Logiwa IO mobile transfers and directed putaway.

Overview

Two features on the Logiwa IO mobile app speed up repetitive moves:

  • One-by-One mode: every product scan moves exactly 1 unit. There's no quantity to enter.

  • Lock Source Location/LP: keeps the source location or LP filled in after each move, so you don't rescan the same bin or tote every time.

Both are available for product transfers and for product directed putaway.

When to use it

  • Emptying a tote of mixed items, one unit at a time, into different locations.

  • Putting away returns or e-commerce items piece by piece.

  • Moving several batches from the same bin without rescanning it.

Step-by-step: One-by-One transfer

  1. Open the One-by-One Transfer screen. The cursor is in Source Location/LP.

  2. Scan the source location or LP. The cursor moves to Product.

  3. Scan a unit. If needed, choose pack type, damage reason, lot or dates in the bottom sheets. No quantity sheet appears.

  4. Scan the Target Location/LP. 1 unit is transferred straight away.

  5. You return to the start screen for the next unit.

Step-by-step: One-by-One putaway

  1. Open Product (one-by-one). The One-by-One Putaway screen opens.

  2. Scan the Source Location/LP, then a unit of the Product.

  3. The next screen shows the Suggested Location for that 1 unit. There's no quantity field.

  4. Take the unit to the suggested location and scan it in Target Location/LP. 1 unit is put away straight away.

  5. You return to the start screen for the next unit.

Need a different location? Tap Suggest Another before scanning the target. If the putaway algorithm has Force Suggested Location on, only the suggested location (or an LP in it) is accepted. See Enforcing Suggested Locations During Putaway.

Example: A returns tote holds 6 units of 4 different SKUs. With Lock Source Location/LP on, the operator scans the tote once, then scans each unit and the suggested shelf. Six scans of products, six scans of targets, no quantities typed.

💡 If your warehouse uses barcode templates, the lot and dates can be filled in from the product barcode. In One-by-One mode, the target scan is only accepted once every tracked field is filled, so a unit is never moved with a missing lot or date. See GS1 and Custom Barcode Parsing.

Lock Source Location/LP

The toggle sits between the Source Location/LP and Product fields, in both Bulk and One-by-One screens.

State

What happens

Example

Before a source is scanned

The toggle is greyed out and can't be used

—

On

The source stays filled in and read-only. The cursor goes to Product. After each move you come back with the source still filled in

Scan bin A-01-01 once, then move SKU-100, SKU-200 and SKU-300 out of it

Off

The cursor jumps back to Source Location/LP with the old value highlighted, so your next scan replaces it. After each move all fields are cleared

Move one unit from A-01-01, then one from B-02-02

Pressing Back from the target screen follows the same rule: with the lock on, the source stays filled in; with it off, all fields are cleared.

Example (Bulk with lock): Choose Bulk, scan bin A-01-01 and turn on the lock. Move 10 units of SKU-100 to Tote-1. You come back with A-01-01 still filled in, so you scan SKU-100 again and move another 5.

💡 If you used Enable Converting to Units on a putaway, it switches off after each putaway even when the source is locked.

Common questions

Can I change the quantity in One-by-One mode? No. Every move is 1 unit. Use Bulk (or Product (Bulk) for putaway) to enter a quantity.

Does the lock remember the product too? No. Only the source is kept. You scan the product every time, and any lot or date details are read again for each scan.

Does One-by-One putaway reserve space like a normal putaway? Yes. Each suggestion reserves room for 1 unit until it's put away. See Understanding Soft Allocation in Putaway.
