Transfers on Mobile

Move products, LPs, totes, parent LPs and whole locations with the Logiwa IO mobile app: Bulk and One-by-One product transfer, LP and location transfer, and the checks that can block a move.

Overview

A transfer moves inventory from one place to another when you choose the destination. The Logiwa IO mobile app has three transfer types:

Transfer type

What moves

Typical use

Transfer Product (Bulk or One-by-One)

A quantity of one product

Moving 12 units of a SKU from overstock to a pick shelf

Transfer LP

A whole LP (license plate) or tote, or a parent LP with everything on it

Moving a received pallet to a rack position

Transfer Location

Everything in a location

Emptying a bin before maintenance

If you want Logiwa IO to suggest the destination instead, use directed putaway. See Directed Putaway on Mobile.

You can also transfer stock on the web from Inventory by Location (see Transfer from Inventory by Location), or through the Open API (see API Guide: Transfer Product and API Guide: Transfer Location or License Plate).

When to use it

  • Consolidate the same SKU from several half-empty bins into one.

  • Move a pallet or tote from the dock to storage.

  • Take a few units out of an LP and leave them loose in the same location.

  • Clear a location completely and move its contents elsewhere.

Prerequisites

  • Your role has the transfer access you need, on the role under Mobile > Transfer (Mobile): View Transfer Product, View Transfer LP/Tote and View Transfer Location.

  • Source and target locations exist in the warehouse and aren't locked.

Transfer Product

From the Home screen, tap Transfer → Transfer Product, then choose Bulk or One-by-One.

Bulk

  1. Scan the Source Location/LP. For an LP you can scan its LP number or its alternate barcode.

  2. Optional: turn on Lock Source Location/LP to keep the source filled in for your next transfer.

  3. Scan the product. If prompted, choose the SKU, pack type, lot, expiry date, production date or damaged line (see below).

  4. Enter the Quantity, use the +/– buttons, or scan items one by one to count up. You can't enter more than is available.

  5. Scan the Target Location/LP. Scanning the target completes the transfer, and the Last Operation box confirms what moved. If the target is an empty LP, you confirm its location first (see "Confirming the target").

Example: Bin A-01-01 holds 40 units of SKU-100. You scan A-01-01, scan SKU-100, enter 25 and scan B-02-03. A-01-01 now holds 15 units and B-02-03 holds 25.

One-by-One

One-by-One is for moving single units quickly. There's no quantity step: each product scan moves one unit, and the transfer submits as soon as you scan the target.

  1. Scan the Source Location/LP.

  2. Scan the product (and resolve any prompts).

  3. Scan the Target Location/LP. One unit is transferred immediately.

Example: With Lock Source Location/LP on, you scan tote T-17 once, then scan SKU-100 → B-01-01, SKU-200 → B-01-01, SKU-300 → B-01-01 without rescanning the tote.

For the full lock behavior, see One-by-One Transfers & Lock Source Location.

Prompts you may see after scanning a product

Prompt

When it appears

Example

SKU selection

The barcode belongs to more than one SKU or client. Each option shows SKU and client name

UPC 0123 is used by SKU-100 for two clients; you pick "SKU-100 – Client B"

Pack type

The barcode is shared by several pack types

You choose Case rather than Each

Lot / expiry / production date

The product tracks them

You enter lot L-552 and expiry 2027-03-31

Damaged line

The source has damaged and undamaged stock of the product

You pick the 2 "Broken" units, not the 15 undamaged ones

Barcode templates. If your warehouse has an active barcode template, Logiwa IO reads the product, lot, expiry date and production date straight from the scanned barcode (for example a GS1 label). Fields it resolves are filled in; anything it can't read falls back to the normal prompt. Templates are tried in priority order. In One-by-One, the unit is only transferred after every tracked field is filled. To set up templates, see GS1 and Custom Barcode Parsing.

Example: A case label encodes SKU-100, lot L-552 and expiry 2027-03-31. Scanning it skips the lot/expiry prompt entirely.

Transfer LP

  1. Tap Transfer → Transfer LP.

  2. Scan the parent LP, LP or tote (LP number or alternate barcode).

  3. Scan the target:

    • A location: the LP moves to that location.

    • A parent LP: the LP is nested inside it.

    • Another LP that isn't a parent LP: the inventory is moved from the scanned LP into the target LP.

Scanning the target completes the transfer. If the target is an empty LP, you confirm its location first (see "Confirming the target" below).

When the LP moves as a whole, everything on it moves with it. Moving a parent LP moves all its child LPs, and the parent LP's location is updated.

Example: Pallet LP-9001 with 4 cases sits at DOCK-1. You scan LP-9001, then RACK-A-01. The pallet and its 4 cases are now at RACK-A-01.

💡 To take some items out of an LP and leave them loose in the same location, use Transfer Product with the LP as source and the location as target. Transfer LP to the LP's current location is refused with a message pointing you to Transfer Product.

If the target location has Auto Remove LP After Transfer turned on, the stock is stored without the LP. See Auto Remove LP After Transfer.

Transfer Location

  1. Tap Transfer → Transfer Location.

  2. Scan the Source Location.

  3. Scan the target location (or an LP/parent LP). Scanning the target completes the transfer. If the target is an empty LP, you confirm its location first.

Everything in the source location moves, including LPs.

Example: Bin C-04-02 is being repaired. You transfer the location to C-04-05; all 6 SKUs and 1 LP in C-04-02 move to C-04-05.

Confirming the target

When you scan a target LP or parent LP, Logiwa IO shows where that LP is:

Target LP…

What you see

Example

Is empty

A confirmation prompt with the LP's last location, which you can change before confirming

Empty tote T-30 last sat at PACK-2; you confirm it's now at B-01-01

Already holds stock

The LP's location, read-only, for information

LP-77 has stock at RACK-B-02; the location is shown but can't be changed

A parent LP counts as holding stock if any of its child LPs do. The same prompt appears on all transfer and putaway screens.

Rules that can block a transfer

Rule

What happens

Example

Same source and target

"Source and Target location cannot be the same." (product and location transfer)

Transferring SKU-100 from B-01-01 to B-01-01

Not enough stock

You can't enter more than is available. If the product sits on several lines (for example different receiving dates), Logiwa IO takes from them in turn

12 requested: 5 from one line, 7 from another. 30 requested with 12 available: refused

Locked location

Locked source or target locations are refused

Bin under count, locked: transfer refused

Target location rules

Locations set to Only 1 SKU, Only 1 Lot Number, Only 1 Expiration Date, Only 1 Production Date, Only Damaged Items or Only 1 LP, or restricted to one client, refuse stock that would break the rule

B-05 is Only 1 SKU and holds SKU-100: SKU-200 is refused

Target LP type rules

An LP whose type allows one SKU, lot, expiry, client, order or job only refuses mismatching stock

A single-client tote holding Client A stock refuses Client B stock

Damaged stock

You must pick the damaged line (with its damage reason) to move damaged units

For the location settings mentioned above, including locking, see Location Parameters.

💡 Allocated stock isn't blocked: it can be moved by any transfer, and the related task is updated accordingly.

Common questions

Can I scan an LP's alternate barcode instead of its LP number? Yes. Wherever you scan an LP in transfers, directed putaway or LP lookup, the alternate barcode works too. See Managing License Plate (LP) Numbers.

How do I move several units of a product to a location that's already full of other SKUs? Check the target's location rules. If it's set to Only 1 SKU, choose a different location.

Does a transfer change allocations? Allocated stock can be moved, and the related task is updated accordingly.

Where do I see what was transferred? The Last Operation box shows the latest transfer. Every transfer is also recorded in the transaction history.
