Prerequisites
Before shipping Hazmat via EasyPost, ensure that:
Your carrier accounts (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) connected via EasyPost are authorized to ship hazardous materials.
You have the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your products to ensure accurate data entry.
Step 1: Configure Product Master Data
To identify a product as hazardous, you must update its settings in the Product Master:
Navigate to Settings> Products.
Search for and select the product you wish to configure.
Go to the Advanced section
Fill hazmat information fields:
Hazmat Type: Hazmat Type of the product (e.g., LQ , EQ , BATTERY ,ORMD).
Class Division: The regulatory class (e.g., CLASS_1).
Click Save.
Step 2: Processing the Shipment
Once the product data is saved, the system will automatically handle the Hazmat requirements during the shipping process:
Order Recognition: When an order contains a product marked as Hazmat, the system flags the shipment for EasyPost.
Carrier Communication: Logiwa sends the Hazmat value to EasyPost in the label request.
Label Generation: EasyPost returns a compliant label that includes the necessary Hazmat indicators (such as the "H" icon or specific text required by the carrier).
โ ๏ธ Important Considerations
Class Division has higher priority than Hazmat Type . If your product has both class division and hazmat type entered.Value that is entered on Class Division will be take into account.
Surface vs. Air: Certain Hazmat items are restricted to ground transportation. Ensure your selected Ship Via method is compliant with the material's restrictions.
Mixed Shipments: If a shipment contains both Hazmat and non-Hazmat items, the entire package will be treated as Hazmat by the carrier.
Compliance Responsibility: As the shipper, you are responsible for the accuracy of the Hazmat data provided. Incorrect labeling can lead to carrier fines or safety risks.
