Overview
Logiwa IO supports two specialized retailer compliance workflows designed to reduce manual steps and increase fulfillment speed for retail orders. The No-Scan UCC Picking flow eliminates the need to scan UCC labels during picking by pre-assigning them to order lines after picking is complete, based on a first-in, first-out sequence. The Individual Package Processing flow automates UCC label, packing slip, and carrier label printing at the packing station as each package is closed. Together, these flows cover the full lifecycle of a retailer compliance order — from pick to pack to ship — with minimal manual intervention.
When to Use It
Use these workflows when:
Your retailer requires UCC (GS1-128/SSCC18) compliance labels on each shipped case or carton
Your operation pre-prints UCC labels before picking begins and does not need pickers to scan them during the pick
You are fulfilling wholesale/B2B orders where picking speed is prioritized over per-label scan validation
Your packing station processes retailer orders one package at a time and needs carrier and UCC labels printed automatically per package close
You want to eliminate the manual "Close Pack" and label-printing steps for orders using full cases or items shipped in their own box
You need a dedicated view to review closed packages and reprint UCC or carrier labels if needed
Prerequisites
Before using either flow, ensure the following are in place:
Your user account has Warehouse Administrator permissions to configure Job Types and Shipment Order Types
The relevant Picking Job Type is set to Retailer Flow in Job Type settings
The relevant Shipment Order Type has Enable Individual Package Processing turned on, and the order has a Retailer assigned (Flow 2 only)
The order has Enable Partial Packing set to TRUE (Flow 2 only)
A carrier integration is active and a Carrier and Shipping Option are assigned to the order before packing begins (Flow 2 only)
UCC label templates are set up and assigned to the relevant products and retailer
Pickers have access to the Logiwa IO mobile app with the Picking module enabled
Part 1 — Configuring No-Scan UCC Picking
Step 1 — Configure the Picking Job Type
Navigate to Settings > Data Setup > Warehouse Job Types.
Select an existing Picking job type or click Create New.
In the Flow Type field, select Retailer Flow.
In the UCC Label Scanning Type field, select No Scan.
⚠️ The No Scan option is only available when Flow Type is set to Retailer Flow. Selecting it with any other flow type returns a validation error.
Confirm the following constraints apply to this job type:
Batch size is limited to one order per job.
Create Sorting Task is disabled and cannot be enabled.
Pick to Location is mandatory.
Click Save.
Step 2 — Generate and Pre-Print UCC Labels
Before picking begins, Case UCC labels must be generated from the web UI.
Navigate to Shipment Orders and open the relevant order.
Generate and print the Case UCC labels for the order lines from the Shipment Order screen.
Confirm the number of printed UCC labels matches the number of cases to be picked. If counts do not match, picking cannot proceed.
💡 At this stage, only Case UCC labels are required. Generating Parent LP UCC labels is optional and can be done after picking is complete.
Step 3 — Picking on Mobile (No-Scan Flow)
Open the Logiwa IO mobile app and navigate to your assigned picking task.
Start the task. Because the job type is configured as No Scan, the app skips the UCC label scan screen — no prompt appears.
Pick items as normal, confirming quantities at each location.
Picking must be performed to a Parent LP or LP. Picking units directly to a location is not permitted in this flow.
Complete the task.
The system automatically associates the picked cases with the pre-printed Case UCC labels for each order line, in first-in, first-out (ID sequence) order.
💡 After picking is complete, you can optionally navigate to the Shipment Order screen to generate and print Parent LP UCC labels for the LPs used during picking. This is not required for shipment.
Part 2 — Configuring Individual Package Processing at Packing
Step 1 — Configure the Shipment Order Type
Navigate to Settings > Data Setup > Shipment Order Types.
Select an existing Shipment Order Type or click Create New.
Enable or configure the following toggles:
Toggle | Description |
Enable Individual Package Processing | When on, each package is processed and closed individually. A UCC label, packing slip, and carrier label print automatically as each package is closed. Must be enabled before the other two toggles can be activated. |
Auto-Print UCC Labels | When on, a UCC compliance label prints automatically alongside the carrier label and packing slip each time a package is closed. Requires Enable Individual Package Processing to be on. |
Enable Scan-to-Close on Higher Pack Types | When on, scanning a full case or an item shipped in its own box automatically closes the package. Requires Enable Individual Package Processing to be on. |
Click Save.
💡 Enable Individual Package Processing must be turned on before Auto-Print UCC Labels or Enable Scan-to-Close on Higher Pack Types can be activated.
Step 2 — Confirm Order Prerequisites
Before a packing task can trigger this flow, verify:
The Shipment Order has a Retailer assigned.
The Shipment Order Type has Enable Individual Package Processing = TRUE.
The order has Enable Partial Packing = TRUE.
A Carrier and Shipping Option are selected on the order. If either is missing, a selection popup appears automatically when the packing task loads.
Part 3 — Using the Packing Station (Individual Package Processing Flow)
Packing an Order
Navigate to the Packing Station and scan or search for the order barcode.
If a Carrier or Shipping Option is missing, a selection popup appears. Select the appropriate values and confirm before proceeding.
You can change the carrier and shipping option per package within the same order.
⚠️ Once at least one package has been closed, the shipping address cannot be changed.
Scan items to pack them. The system behaves differently depending on item type and configuration:
Full Case / Item's Own Box — Auto-Close (Scan-to-Close ON): When a full case or an item shipped in its own box is scanned and Enable Scan-to-Close on Higher Pack Types is on, the package closes automatically. Auto-close is skipped and manual confirmation is required if the product is missing dimensions (height, length, width, or weight), or if a weighing scale is connected to the station.
Full Case / Item's Own Box — Manual Close (Scan-to-Close OFF): When Enable Scan-to-Close on Higher Pack Types is off, the packer can scan additional items into the same box before closing. Click Close Pack manually when ready.
Units (eaches): Scan individual units into the box. Click Close Pack manually when the box is full.
On package close, the system automatically:
Generates and prints a Case UCC label (for closed cases) or a Parent LP UCC label (for mixed/unit cartons)
Prints a Packing Slip
Prints a Carrier Label
Creates a new LPN for the shipment, where the LPN Number = Tracking Number and the Original LP Number = UCC Number
⚠️ If any label fails to print, the entire close operation is reverted and the packing task is not marked complete. Resolve the printer issue and retry.
For UCC label design selection, the system applies the following logic automatically:
If only one UCC label design exists for the retailer → it is selected automatically.
If multiple designs exist → the newest design is selected automatically.
Repeat for each package in the order.
When all items on the To Be Packed side are cleared, click Complete Packing.
💡 The Complete Packing button activates only when the To Be Packed list is fully empty. Partial packing completion is not supported in this flow.
Part 4 — Reviewing and Reprinting Closed Packages
From the Packing Station, open the Closed Package Details view.
Search by UCC Number or Tracking Number to locate a specific package. Up to 50 packages are displayed per page.
Each package entry shows: package number, package type, dimensions and weight, UCC number, tracking number, and a list of items inside (product name, pack type, quantity, and attributes such as color or size).
To reprint labels for one or more packages:
Select the package(s) using the checkboxes.
Click Reprint and choose UCC Label, Carrier Label, or both.
⚠️ If more than one UCC label printout type is selected, the system defaults to laser printer output.
Confirm: labels print at the designated printer.

Common Questions & Edge Cases
What is the risk of the No-Scan flow with pre-printed labels?
Because the system assigns Case UCC labels to picked items automatically in ID sequence (FIFO), the physical order in which a picker picks cases must align with the sequence of pre-printed labels. If cases are picked out of sequence, a label may be applied to the wrong case. This is a calculated trade-off: customers accept this minor risk in exchange for significantly faster picking.
What happens if the number of pre-printed UCC labels doesn't match the pick quantity?
The system blocks the picking task from starting and displays an error. The label count must be reconciled — either generate the correct number of UCC labels or adjust the order quantity — before picking can proceed.
Can the No-Scan flow be used for multi-order jobs?
No. Jobs configured with the No Scan UCC scanning type are limited to one order per job. Multi-order batch jobs are not supported in this flow.
What happens if a carrier is not assigned when the packing task loads?
A carrier selection popup appears automatically. If the user cancels without selecting, they are navigated back and cannot proceed with packing.
Can two identical orders be processed together if one has Individual Package Processing enabled?
No. If any order in a group has Enable Individual Package Processing turned on, it is excluded from identical/consolidated packing and must be processed individually.
What if a product is missing dimensions when Scan-to-Close is enabled?
Auto-close is skipped and the packer must click Close Pack manually. Ensure all products have height, length, width, and weight populated to use Scan-to-Close effectively.
Can I reprint a packing slip from the Closed Package Details view?
No. The reprint action in the Closed Package Details view supports UCC labels and Carrier labels only. Packing slip reprinting is available via the standard Print Actions menu on the Packing Station.
