Overview
LP (Sequential) puts away all the child LPs on a parent LP (for example totes on a cart) in one trip. You scan the parent LP once. Logiwa IO suggests a location for every child LP at the same time, reserves those locations, and lines the LPs up in walking order. You then place them one by one.
Compared with the regular Directed LP Putaway option, which suggests one LP at a time, you get a full plan before you start walking, and no two LPs on the cart, or on other operators' carts, are sent to the same space.
When to use it
A cart, pallet or cage holds several child LPs that go to different locations.
You want to place them in walking order rather than crossing the warehouse for each one.
Several operators put away at the same time and you want to avoid them being sent to the same location.
For a single LP, use Directed LP Putaway. See Directed Putaway on Mobile.
Prerequisites
Your role has the Sequential LP Putaway access, under Mobile > Transfer (Mobile) in the role settings. It's off for all roles by default.
An active putaway algorithm for the warehouse. See Create a Putaway Algorithm.
The parent LP's stock is on child LPs. A parent LP that also holds loose stock (stock not on a child LP) can't be used.
How it works
The session starts when you submit the parent LP
When you scan the parent LP and tap Next, Logiwa IO creates a putaway session straight away:
It takes up to 20 child LPs that hold stock, starting with the most recently updated ones.
It suggests a location for each, one after another. Each suggestion is treated as already occupied when the next one is calculated, so LPs on the same cart never compete for the same space.
It reserves every suggested location for you and starts a 60-minute timer.
It sorts the LPs into a queue and shows it on the Putaway Queue screen.
Start Putaway on that screen only begins placing; the session, its reservations and its timer already exist. If you leave the queue screen without starting, the session stays active, and scanning the same parent LP again offers to resume it.
Queue order
LPs are ordered by the Walking Path Priority of their suggested locations, lowest priority number first. LPs whose suggested location has no priority come last.
LPs you skip move behind all LPs you haven't skipped.
LPs with no suggestion are listed separately, under Manual Putaways.
Example: CART-7 holds 8 totes. Six get suggestions in aisles 2, 4 and 9; two find no location. The queue lists the six in walking path order (aisle 2 first, aisle 9 last) and shows the other two under Manual Putaways.
Reservations
Each suggested location stays reserved for the session until that LP is placed, you request another suggestion for it, or the session ends. Every action you take (placing, skipping, Suggest Another) restarts the 60-minute timer. Other operators' suggestions, in any putaway option, treat your reserved space as occupied. See Understanding Soft Allocation in Putaway.
Step-by-step
On the mobile app, go to Transfer > Directed Putaway and tap LP (Sequential).
Scan or enter the parent LP in Source Parent LP and tap Next.
Wait while suggestions are calculated. This can take a few seconds for a full cart.
Review the Putaway Queue:
The header shows the parent LP, its current location and the LP count.
Suggested Locations lists each LP with its sequence number and location.
Manual Putaways lists LPs with no suggestion.
If the parent LP holds more than 20 child LPs, a banner says "This session covers 20 of [N] LPs. Once finished, please rescan this Parent LP to start the next session."
Tap Start Putaway. The first LP in the queue is shown.
For each LP:
Scan the Child LP. Only child LPs in this session are accepted.
Go to the Suggested Location and scan it in Target Location. If you scan an LP as the target, the app shows or asks you to confirm its location, as in other putaway screens.
Scanning the target completes the putaway, as in regular directed putaway. The LP is moved, the Progress counter goes up (for example 3 of 8) and the next LP loads.
When the last LP is placed, you see Sequential Putaway Session Completed Successfully! with the number of child LPs placed. Tap Return to Transfer Methods or Homepage.
If a location is blocked or unsuitable, use Skip This LP for Now or Suggest Another, or place the LP elsewhere. See Managing a Sequential Putaway Session.
LPs with no suggestion
When an LP from Manual Putaways comes up, the screen says "No location suggestion found based on current putaway rules. You can manually select a location to proceed." Tap Suggest Another for a fresh suggestion, or scan a location of your choice. If Force Suggested Location is on, the LP can't be placed until Suggest Another finds a location for it.
With Force Suggested Location on
If the putaway algorithm has Force Suggested Location on, the Target Location field is filled in with the suggested location and locked: "This LP must be placed at the suggested location." See Enforcing Suggested Locations During Putaway.
When a session can't start
Message shown | Why | What to do |
The scanned Parent LP has no child LPs associated with it… | The LP you scanned has no child LPs | Put it away with Directed LP Putaway |
This Parent LP has inventory that is not assigned to individual LPs… | Some stock sits directly on the parent LP | Move that stock onto child LPs, or put it away with Product (Bulk) |
No putaway suggestion could be generated for any LP on this parent LP… | The algorithm found no location for any child LP | |
An active putaway session for this parent LP is currently held by [name]… | A colleague has an active session for this parent LP | Ask them to finish or cancel it, or wait for it to expire |
Resume prompt | You already have an active session for this parent LP | Resume it or start a new one. See Managing a Sequential Putaway Session |
A parent LP with child LPs that are all empty is treated like one with no child LPs.
Limits
Limit | Details |
20 child LPs per session | Only the 20 most recently updated child LPs with stock are included. Rescan the parent LP after finishing to put away the rest |
One session per parent LP | Only the operator who started it can resume or cancel it |
Fixed queue | You can't reorder the queue by hand; only Skip and Suggest Another change it |
LPs only | Loose products can't be put away sequentially |
Common questions
What if I scan a child LP that's not in the session? You see "Scanned LP is not on the Parent LP of this session. Please scan a child LP from this Parent LP." This includes child LPs beyond the first 20.
Does sequential putaway use a different algorithm? No. It uses the warehouse's putaway algorithm. The only difference is that all suggestions are made at once, each one counting the earlier ones as occupied.
A colleague puts one of my child LPs away with the regular Directed LP Putaway option. What happens? That LP leaves your session and its reservation moves to your colleague. Your queue carries on with the remaining LPs.
