Overview
Once an order enters a Precartonization job, Logiwa IO follows a predictable path from order creation to shipping — the exact steps depend on whether the order needs one box (Single Box) or several (Multi Box). This article walks through both paths with examples, in plain terms, without diving into technical setup.
When to Use It
Read this if you want a simple, end-to-end picture of what happens to an order after your cartonization service assigns it a box plan — useful for training new team members or troubleshooting where an order is in the process.
The Single Box Flow
Order comes in. The order is sent to your cartonization service, which decides it needs just one box and tells Logiwa IO which box type to use.
Order is ready for picking. Logiwa IO marks the order as needing one box of that type. If your job type has Scan Tracking Number turned on, a shipping label and tracking number are generated for that box ahead of time, before picking starts.
Picking. The picker sees the box type that came from your cartonization service for this order.
If Scan Tracking Number is on: the picker scans the tracking number shown on screen to confirm each item, instead of scanning a tote.
If Scan Tracking Number is off: the picker scans a regular tote, as usual.
Shipping. Once everything is picked, the order is ready to ship — no separate packing step is needed if your job type skips packing.
Example — Order SO-100 (Single Box, Scan Tracking Number ON):
Step | What the picker sees |
Box type | Box 4x4x4 (from your cartonization service) |
Tracking Number | TRK-100-A (generated before picking, since Scan Tracking Number is on) |
Picking action | Scan TRK-100-A to confirm each item picked for this order |
The Multi Box Flow
Order comes in. The cartonization service looks at everything in the order and decides it needs more than one box, telling Logiwa IO exactly which items go in which box and what box type each one needs.
Order is ready for picking. Logiwa IO treats each box as its own group — items going into the same box are grouped together, even if the picker ends up collecting them from different picking cells. If Scan Tracking Number is on, each box gets its own tracking number ahead of time.
Picking. For each item, the picker sees which box it belongs to and that box's type.
If Scan Tracking Number is on: the picker scans that box's tracking number to confirm the item.
If Scan Tracking Number is off: the picker scans a regular tote for that box's group.
Packing (if applicable). If your job type includes a packing step, each box is packed separately as its items are picked — the packer doesn't wait for the whole order to finish picking before starting to pack the first box.
Shipping. Each box can move on to shipping independently — one box doesn't have to wait for the others to be ready.
Example — Order SO-200 (Multi Box, 3 boxes, Scan Tracking Number ON):
Box | Items in this box | Box type | Tracking Number | Picking action |
Box 1 | SKU-A | Box 4x4x4 | TRK-200-A | Scan TRK-200-A for SKU-A |
Box 2 | SKU-B, SKU-C | Box 4x8x12 | TRK-200-B | Scan TRK-200-B for SKU-B and SKU-C |
Box 3 | SKU-D | Box 6x8x10 | TRK-200-C | Scan TRK-200-C for SKU-D |
All three boxes belong to the same order, but each is picked, (optionally packed), and shipped as its own unit.
Common Questions & Edge Cases
Does a Multi Box order ever get combined back into one shipment?
No — each box in a Multi Box order is tracked and shipped as its own unit throughout the process.
What if my cartonization service hasn't responded by the time the order is ready to be worked on?
The order simply follows your normal process instead of the Precartonization flow for that run — it isn't held up waiting for a response.
What happens if I scan the wrong tracking number?
Logiwa IO rejects the scan and lets you know it doesn't match the box you're working on — check your box labels and scan the one that matches the box type and items shown on screen.
