Creating a job type with the right parameters allows you to efficiently pick and pack your products. This article will walk you through the process and provide a deeper explanation for the various toggles and fields you'll see during setup.

Step-by-Step Guide

  • Navigate to the Job Types page.

    • If you have trouble finding the screen, please use the Search Option on the menu bar.

  • Click on Create New Job Type in the upper right corner.

  • Select the Operation Type from the available options. Your choices are:

    • Picking

    • Cycle Count

    • Replenishment

  • For this example, Picking was chosen as the operation type.

  • Proceed to the General screen.

General

  • Enter values for the required fields. Explanations for the fields are below.

Field

Description

Name*

Type the name for this job type. Required field.

Warehouse*

Select the warehouse using this job type. Required field.

Operation Type

Selected on the previous screen. Cannot be edited here.

Allocation Algorithm*

Select an existing allocation algorithm. Required field.

Description

Type a longer name/description for this job type.

  • Once you've filled in the required fields, click Next.

Templates

  • If you wish, you can use one of our preset templates for your Picking jobs. Some of the options we offer include:

  • To continue creating a custom job type, select Custom. To proceed with a template, select one of the available options. If selecting a template, certain orders on the following screens will be preselected to match the template.

Settings

  • From this tab, you'll set the necessary parameters for the job you're creating.

  • You can select the type of orders that will be covered by this job:

    • All Orders: No matter what the order type is, all orders will be covered.

    • Identical Item Orders: Only orders that have the same product will be covered.

    • Single Item Orders: Only orders with just one product in them will be covered.

    • Multi-Item Orders: Only orders that have multiple lines and products will be covered.

  • After that, set the remaining toggles according to the needs of the job being created. Definitions of the parameters are below.

Toggle

Description

Override For Last Job

When enabled, if you define a batch size for this job using Limitation Method and the number of remaining orders is less than the minimum quantity, the remaining orders will be added to the last job.

Only Pick

When enabled, only picking tasks will be created for the orders.

Only Pack

When enabled, only packing tasks will be created for the orders.

Note: This setting cannot be used if Prioritize Same Pack Type or Prioritize Higher Pack Type will be used in your setup's Allocation Algorithm.

Create Loading Task

When enabled, a loading task will be created when this job runs.

Disable Full LP Picking

When disabled, the system will attempt to allocate full LPs. This option is disabled by default.

When enabled, the system will not allow LP picking and only allocate products, no LPs.

Auto Complete Picking Tasks

When enabled, picking tasks will be auto completed.

  • The next setting in this section is Batch Size.

    • Select the allowed batch size from the dropdown. You can choose Number of Items or Number of Orders.

    • Using Min and Max, define the minimum and maximum number of orders/items for the batch.

    • For example, consider a job type with a maximum N of Different SKU of 12 and a maximum N of Item of 25. Jobs using this job type will be created so that up to 12 different items can be picked at the same time, and the sum of the same items can be up to 25.

    • This is not a required field.

  • Next, select the Mobile Screen Type to be used with this job. You can currently choose from Pick and Sort and Pick to Location. Only one option may be enabled at a time.

    • If All Orders or Multi Item Orders are selected above:

      • If the user enables Pick and Sort in the Job Type setup, on the Pick and Sort screen, the system will assign one order to one cell/tote on the mobile cart.

      • If the user enables Pick to Location in the Job Type setup, on the Pick to Location screen, the user will bulk pick the orders into one location/LPN.

    • If Single Item Orders or Identical Item Orders are selected above:

      • The user can only select Pick to Location screen and the job codes can be picked in Pick to Location screen only.

    • The only exception is in Single SKU Cluster Pick Template where both Single Item Orders and Pick and Sort are selected together. In that specific job type, the system will assign one SKU to one cell/tote on the mobile cart (so multiple orders in one cell).

  • After adding the necessary information, click Next to move to the Conditions tab.

Conditions

  • In this section, you can add some conditions for the orders that will be allocated. These are optional, but can help you further customize this job type.

  • To add a condition, click Add Filter and select the Plus (+) next to the filter you wish to add.

  • For example:

    • Filter just your e-commerce orders with Order Type.

    • Create a job for your multi-item orders with oversized products, by setting the product type as Oversized.

  • Click Next to move to the final section.

Grouping

  • In this section, you'll choose the Group By Method for your job type. This refers to selecting a specific way to categorize and group the jobs created using this job type.

  • You can group by the following options:

    • Location Zone

    • Product Group

    • Carrier

    • Area Type

    • Client

    • Order Tag

  • To complete job type creation, click Save.
