Shipment packages are physical containers used for transporting goods during the shipping process. In this article, we will discuss how to create and utilize shipment packages in Logiwa. With Logiwa, you can create different types of shipment packages, track package inventory levels, and easily access desired packages.

What are Shipment Packages?

Shipment packages are boxes, crates, or other types of packaging used to transport goods during the shipping process. They are designed to protect the goods from damage during transportation and may include materials such as cushioning, wrapping, or strapping to keep the contents secure. They vary in size, shape, and material depending on the type of goods being shipped and the method of transportation.

LogiwaIo enables you to create shipment packages for shipping orders. Additionally, the system can assist with tracking shipment package inventory levels, to help you monitor what you need to keep your operations running smoothly.

Guide to Creating Shipment Packages

  • First, navigate to the Shipment Packages screen.

    • If you cannot locate the screen, please use the Search Option on the menu bar.

  • Click Create New Package on the upper right side of the screen.

Active?

Each shipment package can be activated or deactivated with this toggle. Deactivated packages cannot be applied to or selected for shipment orders.

  • After filling in the necessary information, click Next to proceed.

2. Client Access

  • The second tab is dedicated to Client Access to the shipment package you're creating. Clients that have access to the created package can select and apply it to their shipment orders.

  • You can either choose the All Clients option to give access to all existing and future clients, or Select Manually to add clients who have access manually.

  • When using Select Manually, you will be able to Disable or Enable clients by selecting the box next to their name and using the coinciding buttons.

  • Clients with access will be labeled Enabled while those without will be labelled Disabled.

  • Once you've made the necessary choices, click Next to continue to the Inventory Tracking section.

Inventory Tracking

  • If your shipment packages require inventory tracking, this feature can be enabled from the Inventory Tracking section.

  • If you do not wish to track shipment package inventory, leave the toggle set to NO. Click Finish if you do not wish to use this feature. That will complete your shipment package creation.

  • If you do wish to use this feature, select YES. Switching the Enable Inventory Tracking toggle to YES reveals the fields that must be filled in to complete this process.

Field

Description

Inventory Owner

  • Select the owner of the shipment package from the list of clients.

  • Please note that this client selection is different than the package's Client Access settings.

  • The shipment package can still be accessed and used by various clients, however, the Inventory Owner must be one client in the warehouse.

Inventory Tracking Method (Matched SKU)

  • Shipment packages with inventory tracking must be linked with a new or existing SKU so inventory levels can be monitored on the Product level.

  • There are two options to link products with shipment packages:

    • Auto-Create New SKU: This option automatically creates a new SKU as packaging material and links it with the created shipment package.

    • Match with an Existing SKU: By using this option, previously created packaging material SKUs can be manually linked with the created shipment package.

    • Please note:

      • Only SKUs created as packaging materials of the selected inventory owner(client) are listed in the SKU search field.

Inventory Reduction Location

  • Select the location where the package's inventory level is deducted from whenever the package is used.

  • There are 3 options available in this section:

    • Packing Station: Inventory level will be deducted at the packing stations.

    • Specific Location: Inventory level will be deducted at a specific location. The location can be searched for via the Location field after choosing this option.

  • Any Location: Inventory level will be deducted from a location where the package has the most of its inventory.

  • Regarding inventory reduction location, please note the following information:

    • The inventory tracking feature allows users to track the total inventory of a shipment package at the selected warehouse.

    • In order to properly track the package inventory, the package should have an inventory at the desired location.

      • If the package has 0 inventory at the desired location (inventory reduction location) this does not prevent the usage of this package at the packing station. However, the inventory level of this package will no longer be trackable until the inventory level of this package is bigger than 0.

    • All transfer operations that are allowed for product SKUs are also doable for shipment packages with inventory tracking.

    • The inventory of the shipment packages can be followed on the Inventory screen, the same as other product SKUs.

  • Once you've made the necessary selections, click Finish to complete you shipment package creation. A confirmation message will appear if the shipment package was created successfully.
