To assign SKUs to specific locations and receive suggestions based on predefined SKU-Location assignments, you can create a putaway algorithm that incorporates these assignments. This article will explain the process using the example of SKU_200.

Step-by-Step Guide

  • First, navigate to the Locations screen to check if the product that you want to transfer is assigned to one or more locations.

    • For instance, SKU_200 is assigned to the location A-1-1, B-1-1 and C-1-1 as below:

  • Then, go to the Inventory by Location screen to check out the Inventory lines of the product which is SKU_200 to be transferred.

    • For instance, SKU_200 has multiple inventory lines in three different locations.

  • Navigate to the Algorithms screen.

    • If you have trouble finding the screen, please use the Search Option on the menu bar.

  • Select Putaway Algorithm from the available options.

  • Select Create Algorithm from the right side of the screen.

  • A menu with the header Create Algorithm will display. The Primary Information tab will load first.

  • Fill in the following information in the Primary Information section:

    • Algorithm Name*: Type the algorithm's name in the system. We recommend a simple and recognizable name.

    • Warehouse*: Select the relevant warehouse from a dropdown menu.

      • Keep in mind that putaway algorithm is created in only warehouse basis.

    • Active: Set the algorithm as active (Yes) or inactive (No). It must be set to active to be used. Please note that only one algorithm can be active for a warehouse at a time.

  • Click Save. You will be navigated to the Rules tab directly.

  • In Rules tab, click on Create New button to create a Rule from scratch. Rules will determine how your putaway algorithm functions in the system.

  • You can now define the specifics of your first rule. Begin by entering a name in the Rule Name field.

Condition

  • First, you'll need to set a condition by selecting the Plus (+) button next to Condition.

  • Some key details about conditions:

    • A condition is something that will be applied to the inventory in source location. If the inventory of the source location meets the condition, then the action can happen.

    • The condition can be set to apply to all situations or a specific condition.

    • You can define single or multiple conditions for one rule.

  • If you select Apply to All, this will apply the created rule to all putaway actions. Click Add to continue.

Action

  • Next, define an action or multiple actions for the Action section. This sets the action that the system takes when the selected condition or conditions are met.

  • Click the Plus (+) button to add an action.

  • Choose Check Assigned SKUs from the Action list and click on Save.

Order By

  • Finally, define the Order By, which is the sorting method for the action that you've set to occur.

  • Save the rule by clicking on Save Rule at the bottom.

  • At the end, your rule will look like this.

  • This rule now checks the selected SKU's assigned location and suggests the first eligible location based on the specified order conditions.

  • Click on Test Rule button after saving it to start testing the rule.

  • In the test screen, fill out Client, Location and Product respectively, and click on Search to see the inventory lines.

  • Select the inventory line and click on Test button.

  • Check the results.

    • An assigned location which is B-1-1 has been suggested for SKU_200.
