Electronic Data Interchange, known more commonly as EDI, is a computer-to-computer exchange of business documents. EDI files have strict formatting rules that define exactly where and how each piece of information in the document will be found so that it can be read by the computer on the receiving end.
Logiwa IO supports FTP, SFTP, and AS2 file transfers directly from our customer's own FTP/AS2 servers or through 3rd-party integration with SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce. If your business does not have FTP/AS2 servers, you'll need to have a connection with one of these integrators.
EDI Setup
EDI connections are complex and often require extensive customization. EDI integrations generally require 2 - 4 weeks per file type to implement, and separate EDI connections are required per retailer per client.
If an EDI integration is part of your business needs, please prepare the following information:
Name of the retailer you need the EDI integration for (e.g. Wayfair, Walmart)
Name of the 3rd-party Integrator to be used (SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce) OR FTP/AS2 connection credentials
List of the file types that need support (i.e. 850, 856, 846, etc.)
Sample EDI files
Spec documents for each file type
Sample files and use cases for each segment in the EDI file are necessary in order to determine the mapping of each to Logiwa's fields.
Once you have this information, reach out to Support and they will work with you to create the EDI connection. If you find you need additional connection types (Dropbox, Azure Blob, etc.), please contact your CSM to discuss.
Accepted EDI Files
At this time, we support EDI integration for the following document types:
810: Invoice
846: Inventory Inquiry/Advice
850: Purchase Order
855: Purchase Order Acknowledgement
856: Ship Notice/Manifest (ASN)
940: Warehouse Shipping Order
945: Warehouse Shipping Advice
997: Functional Acknowledgement
We currently prefer X12-type EDI files. We can also potentially provide support for ACH, CSV, EANCOM, EDIFACT, Excel, Flat File, GISB, HL7, IATA PADIS, PDF Label, PIP, TRADACOMS, VDA, and XML files. If these file types are needed, please contact your CSM to discuss.
As noted above, EDI integrations are complex and vary from business to business, and will depend on a number of factors. To discuss what specific files your business needs and what's possible, please contact support with the information listed above in the EDI Setup section.
