The Feed Wedge uses pasture walks already recorded in Trev and can be viewed offline. Each paddock is shown as a bar, ordered from highest to lowest pasture cover against your target line. This makes it easy to see which paddocks are sitting above or below target while you’re out on farm.
Before you start
You need at least one pasture walk recorded in Paddock mode, with pasture covers entered for individual paddocks. Basic walks only record an average pasture cover, so they can’t be used to build the Feed Wedge.
You need access to the Feed Wedge for the farm.
If Feed Wedge is greyed out, ask your farm owner to check that your user permissions allow you to access it.
Open the Feed Wedge
Tap More in the bottom menu.
Tap Inventories.
Tap Feed Wedge.
Tap the farm name at the top of the screen if you need to switch farms.
Choose the period you want to view: Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last 21 days, Last 30 days, or Custom.
What the Feed Wedge shows
Each bar represents a paddock’s most recent pasture cover within the period you’ve selected. If you’ve completed more than one pasture walk during that period, the paddocks shown on the wedge may come from different walks. The information above the chart shows how many walks the covers have come from and the date of the latest walk.
The chart also shows:
a solid sloping line from your pre-graze target to your post-graze residual
a dashed horizontal line showing your average pasture cover
summary figures for Average cover, Average growth, Highest cover and Lowest cover
The target line comes from your pre-graze and post-graze targets. It does not calculate feed demand from your stock numbers.
Adjust the chart
Tap Chart controls above the chart. You can adjust your Pre-graze target and Post-graze target, and choose whether each paddock is shown at an equal width or sized according to paddock area.
Handy Tip! Your settings are saved for each farm on your phone.
Check an individual paddock
Tap a bar to open more detail for that paddock. You’ll see whether the paddock is Above target or Below target, along with its cover date, effective area, pasture cover, available cover, total cover and available feed.
Use the arrows beside the paddock name to move through the grazing round, or tap another paddock on the chart.
When does the Feed Wedge update?
Pasture covers you save on your phone appear in the Feed Wedge straight away, including covers entered while you’re partway through a pasture walk.
Pasture walks recorded by someone else appear after your next sync.
If a paddock’s latest recorded cover is zero, it drops off the Feed Wedge rather than continuing to show an older cover.
Troubleshooting
Why is my Feed Wedge empty?
There may be no individual paddock covers within the period you’ve selected. Try choosing a longer period or record a pasture walk in Paddock mode.
Why is a paddock missing?
Its latest pasture cover may be zero, or no cover may have been recorded for it during the selected period.
Why is the Feed Wedge greyed out?
Ask your farm owner to check that the Feed Wedge is available to you for that farm.
