The Trev app sometimes uses Over-the-Air (OTA) updates to deliver improvements without requiring you to download a new version from the App Store or Google Play.
These updates are applied in the background when you open the app, so you always have the latest configurations, features, or content — even if you haven’t installed a new app version.
What is an OTA Update?
An OTA update in Trev means:
No app store download needed – the update comes directly from Trev’s servers while you use the app.
It’s lightweight (often just new code bundles, assets, or configuration files).
It can include interface changes, bug fixes, or feature toggles without waiting for the next App Store release.
This ensures faster updates and less downtime for farms and teams.
How to force an OTA update
For various reasons, sometimes the new OTA update doesn’t appear right away so a bit of patience is required. While not bullet-proof, the following steps can often help trigger the OTA update:
On iOS
Complete a manual sync in the Trev app
Close the app completely (swipe it away from the app switcher).
Reopen the Trev app – this triggers the OTA update to load.
Give it a few minutes and if that doesn’t work, restart your device and reopen Trev.
On Android
Complete a manual sync in the Trev app
Force close the app (Settings → Apps → Trev → Force Stop).
Open the Trev app again – the OTA bundle should now apply.
If needed, clear the app cache (Settings → Apps → Trev → Storage → Clear Cache) and relaunch.
