Trev’s Stock module captures livestock events so you can make sure that the number of animals at the start of the season balance with the number of animals on the farm at the report date. Here’s a quick overview and what to do with each component!
Livestock Events
To add a livestock event, click on Add Another at the top in green
Enter the new info in the Livestock Events card then click the blue Add button
Repeat as many times as you need to
Once you’ve added all your new events for the week, click the blue Save & Continue button
Don’t forget! You only need to enter the livestock events that took place in that particular week, unless you’re correcting an event from a previous week.
Livestock Reconciliation
This is a snapshot of your current stock, based on your opening stock numbers and any livestock events you’ve entered. Click on the blue eye on the right to expand each section and get a full view of what the increases and decreases are made up of, i.e. purchases, deaths and culls.
Don’t forget! These closing tallies for each stock class should match what you have on the farm when you’re completing the report.
Mob Management & Feeding Levels
In this section, you create mobs and assign info to each of them as you have them on the farm. The closing numbers from Livestock Reconciliation should match the numbers in the mobs here, or you’ll see an alert at the top of the section with the stock class that doesn’t balance.
To create a new mob, click Add Another at the top in green
Enter the info in the Mob Management card then click the blue Feeding Levels button
Load the different types and quantities of feed that this mob is receiving
Add multiple different feeds as required by clicking Add Another
Once you’ve created all your mobs, the alert detailing the variance in stock numbers will disappear
Once your numbers balance, click the blue Save & Continue button
Don’t forget! Once your mobs are created, they carry over to the next report automatically and you only need to edit mob numbers and feeding levels. But if you miss a week’s reporting, you’ll need to create all your mobs again.
Calving & Mating Information
You only need to complete this component at the relevant time during the season. The numbers are cumulative - for example, in Week 2 of calving you’ll enter the number of Cows Calved recorded in both Week 1 and Week 2.
If you’re wondering what the difference is between Cows Mated and Inseminations:
Cows Mated refers to the physical number of cows that you’ve mated. You only need to record each cow in your herd in this section the first time they are mated to help you identify your submission rate, i.e. if you have a 1000-cow herd any by Week 3 you’ve mated 920 cows, your submission rate is 92%.
Inseminations refers to the total number of inseminations you’ve done, including both first inseminations and returns.
