Students are invited to Nearo through a unique link that helps them create an account and prepare for live sessions.
ℹ️ If your teacher uses Rooms instead of Calls, you may be able to join as a guest directly from your browser — no account required. Ask your teacher which method they use. This article covers account-based setup for students joining via Calls.
Create your Nearo account
Students receive a unique Nearo join link from their tutor, teacher, or organization.
The join link opens the Nearo sign-up page, where you create your account using the information requested on the screen.
After completing sign-up, you are taken directly to the Nearo Dashboard.
ℹ️ Each join link is unique and may include a long combination of letters and numbers. This is expected.
Download the Nearo Desktop App
Nearo sessions run in the desktop app, so you may need to install it before joining a session.
If the Nearo Desktop App is not already installed, download it from the Dashboard.
For detailed help, see the article Downloading and installing the Nearo app on Mac or Windows.
🔔 You must approve opening the Nearo Desktop App when prompted so you can join sessions.
Update your name in the Dashboard
You can update how your name appears during sessions from the Dashboard.
Open the Settings tab.
Edit your First name and Last name.
Your updated name will appear in future sessions.
Join and participate in sessions
Once your account is set up, all live session activity happens in the Nearo Desktop App.
Use the desktop app to join sessions, share audio and video, view screens, and interact with your tutor.
If you have trouble setting up your account or accessing the app, contact your tutor or Nearo support for help.
