Most students can join a Nearo session through a Room link shared by their teacher, tutor, or organization.
Joining a Room Call
For most sessions, your teacher will share a Nearo Room link with you.
A Room Call lets you join directly from your browser. You do not need to create a Nearo account or download the Nearo desktop app unless your teacher or organization asks you to.
To join a Room Call:
Open the Room link your teacher shared with you.
Allow your browser to use your microphone and camera if prompted.
Enter your name if asked.
Wait for your teacher to let you into the Room.
Join the session when your teacher admits you.
🔔 If your browser blocks camera or microphone access, you may need to update your browser permissions before you can fully participate.
When you need a Nearo account
Some teachers or organizations may ask students to create a Nearo account.
You may need a Nearo account if your teacher wants to use direct Nearo-to-Nearo Calls instead of Room Calls.
Direct Calls are different from Room Calls because they require you to have a Nearo account and the Nearo desktop app installed.
Ask your teacher which method they use if you are not sure.
Creating your Nearo account
Students create a Nearo account using a unique join link from their tutor, teacher, or organization.
The join link opens the Nearo sign-up page, where you create your account using the information requested on the screen.
After completing sign-up, you are taken directly to the Nearo Dashboard.
ℹ️ Each join link is unique and may include a long combination of letters and numbers. This is expected.
Downloading the Nearo desktop app
If your teacher uses direct Calls, you may need to install the Nearo desktop app before joining your session.
If the Nearo desktop app is not already installed, download it from the Dashboard.

🔔 You must approve opening the Nearo desktop app when prompted so you can join direct Calls.
Updating your name in the Dashboard
You can update how your name appears during account-based sessions from the Dashboard.
To update your name:
Open the Settings tab.
Edit your First name and Last name.
Your updated name will appear in future account-based sessions.
Joining and participating in sessions
How you join depends on the method your teacher uses.
For a Room Call, open the Room link your teacher shared and join from your browser.
For a direct Call, open the Nearo desktop app and make sure you are signed in before your session starts.
During your session, you may use audio, video, screen sharing, or other tools your teacher makes available.
