How to Connect USB Scales in Neatoscan

In-depth guide to connecting and assigning USB scales in Neatoscan Books and Collectibles

This article explains which scales are supported and how to connect and assign USB scales for Neatoscan. If you have any questions that this article does not answer, please contact support@neatoscan.com.


Supported Scales

Neatoscan is compatible with a wide range of USB scales. However, we directly support the models listed below. For a complete list of supported scales and recommended vendors, refer to our hardware recommendations article.

Receipt Printers

  • Officially Supported:

    • Dymo M25

    • Dymo S100

  • Compatible:

    • Many USB scales are compatible, but we cannot guarantee they will work.


Connecting the Scale

To connect and assign your scale in Neatoscan, follow the steps detailed below. Once the scale is connected and assigned, you will be able to weigh your items and have the weight import to Neatoscan automatically.

Connect the USB Scale to Your Computer

  1. Locate the USB port on your scale typically found on the back or side of the device.

  2. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the scale.

  3. Connect the other side of the USB cable to your computer.

Assign the USB Scale in Neatoscan

Once the USB scale is connected to your computer, it can be assigned in Neatoscan. After assignment, it can be used for shipping if configured on the books side, or for both listing and shipping on the collectibles side. Steps to assign the scale for both sides are shown below.

πŸ“’ Note: Each device with a connected scale must follow the steps below, as these are local settings and not applied account-wide.

Books Side

  1. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner.

  2. Navigate to the Shipping tab.

  3. In the Scale section, select your scale type. For most USB scales like the Dymo M25, choose USB Scale.

Collectibles side

  1. From the collectibles side, click the Settings icon in the top right corner.

  2. Scroll down to the scale section, then select your scale using the dropdown menu. For most USB scales like the Dymo M25, choose USB Scale.
