How do I only print mailing labels?
Updated over a week ago

In some cases, you may not want to create a direct mailing - but you want to generate mailing labels for your contacts in Donor Management without having to hand-write them all.

There is a quick and simple way to create a set of mailing labels only. Below, we'll walk you through that process so you can get those messages in the mail sooner!

You'll first want to follow the initial steps of creating a direct mail communication. While you won't be creating a true direct mailing, you'll want to use the same process to create your mailing labels.

You will want to name the mailing something that's easy to recognize and remember - like "Mailing Labels for Postcards - April," or "Labels for EOY Thank You Gifts."

Once you're ready, you'll want to press the orange "Next" button in the top-right corner of your screen. You'll want to select "Build Your Own" on the "Type" page, since we won't actually be creating anything other than labels.

You'll then proceed to the "Setup" step, which is where you'll select the specific mailing label type you'd like to create, as well as some specific details about the labels themselves (like the greeting option, and how the labels are sorted).

Not sure what label type you're using? Usually, the label's packaging will indicate what type of label it is, or what a comparable label type might be.

When you're ready to proceed, you'll click the "Next" button, which will take you to the "Build" step. Since we're not creating any letters, you can actually skip this step and proceed to the next step, "Recipients."

You'll then want to select who you're creating these mailing labels for. You can opt to create labels for everyone listed as a contact in Donor Management, or you can select a custom set of individuals for a more focused mailing.

Once you've selected your recipients, you'll want to select the "Generate XX Letters & XX Labels" button on the final "Review" step. This will generate a download using the same process as a direct mailing - instead the resulting file will only include information for labels, and no actual letters.

Not quite ready to print your labels? You can always click the option to "Save & Exit" in the top-right corner, and return to this "mailing" whenever you're ready to proceed.

Please note that when printing mailing labels, you'll need to make sure that your printer is set up correctly to do so - otherwise, the margins will be off, and your labels might end up looking a little wonky.
