If you want to generate mailing labels for your contacts in 'Donor Management' without having to hand-write them all - and without creating a direct mailing - follow the steps outlined below!
Step 1: Create a Direct Mail
Follow the initial steps for building a direct mail communication. While you will not be creating a true direct mailing, you will still want to use the same process to create your mailing labels.
Choose a name for the mailing that is easy to recognize and remember - for example, 'Mailing Labels for Postcards - April', or 'Labels for EOY Thank You Gifts'.
When you are ready, click the 'Next' button in the upper right corner of the page.
Step 2: Start building the mailing
In the next step, select 'Build Your Own' as the 'Type', since you are only creating mailing labels.
Click the 'Next' button to move on to the next step.
Step 3: Setup your mailing labels
The 'Setup' step is where you will select a specific mailing label type.
Tip: Not sure what label type you are using? Typically, the label's packaging will indicate what type of label it is (or what a comparable label type might be).
Once you have selected the label type, more options will appear which will allow you to select specific details about the labels (such as the greeting option and how they are sorted).
Click the 'Next' button to continue.
Step 4: Select your recipients
Next, you will be taken to the 'Build' step. Since you are not creating any letters, you can skip this step and proceed to the next step, 'Recipients'.
From here, you can create labels for everyone listed as a contact in 'Donor Management', or you can select a custom set of individuals for a more focused mailing.
Click the 'Next' button to progress.
Step 5: Generate your mailing labels
Now that you have selected your recipients, select the 'Generate XX Letters & XX Labels' button on the final 'Review' step.
Your mailing will now reflect as 'Processing' on the 'Direct Mail' page. An e-mail notification will automatically be sent to you once your mailing is ready to download.
From 'Donor Management', you can download a .pdf file of your mailing labels from the 'Direct Mail' page that you can print out at your convenience.
โโNote: Before you print your mailing labels, double-check your printer settings - otherwise, the margins will be off and your labels may not print correctly. Learn how to properly align your mailing labels for printing by clicking here.
