How do I rotate an image that appears sideways after uploading?
Updated over a week ago

Have you ever tried to upload the perfect photo to use on your newly-created Fundraising page, or to add that perfect touch to an email blast – only to have the photo appear sideways once uploaded?

Not to worry – there's an easy way to fix that and "rotate" your photo so it displays correctly!

Step 1: Make sure you have an editable version of the image.

When modern pictures are taken with a camera, there is "metadata," or encoded data, that's stored along with that picture within the image file itself. Metadata often includes information on the original "orientation" (or positioning) of that image - indicating to the system how the photo should be displayed.

In order to update the metadata, you'll need to open up an editable version of the image. We strongly recommend making a copy of the original image, so you can make these changes without permanently changing the original photo. (You never know who else might need it!)

Step 2: Open up the image in the editing tool of your choice.

Once you've created a copy of the image that you can modify, open up that image in an image editing tool, such as Paint or Photoshop.

Step 3: Select the option to rotate the image within the editing tool.

Regardless of which editing tool you opt to use, you should have an option to rotate the image so that the orientation reflects how you'd like it to look; in other words, you can flip the image so it's "right-side-up."

Step 4: Select the option to "save" your new image file.

You'll want to name the file something unique, so you can differentiate it from the original image without the corrected orientation. (Also, if you hadn't created a new image, this would be the time to select "Save As" to make sure you don't overwrite the existing image!)

What else do you want to do?
