Editing the Donor Scroll
Updated over a week ago

The "Donor Scroll" is a feature on your Fundraising Pages that allows your donors and supporters to share messages of appreciation and encouragement to others, as well as show off their generosity.

The Donor Scroll appears at the bottom left of your Bonterra fundraising page - this is where donors can share messages of appreciation and encouragement, and show off their generosity.

However, sometimes in their excitement to contribute to your organization's mission, your donors may make an error or typo in their message - or decide they don't want their information to be publicized on the donation page.

Below, we'll show you how to make those changes to the Donor Scroll, so your page displays the correct messages and appropriate information moving forward.

Before You Begin

Be sure that you are logged into your Fundraising Pages account - if you're seeing your "Dashboard," you'll want to click on the "My Tools" button in the top-right corner and select "Fundraising Pages" from the drop-down menu.

Editing the Donor Scroll

Once on the "My Campaigns" page in Fundraising Pages, you'll want to click on the "People" tab towards the top of your screen, then click on the options for "Donors/Fundraisers."

When the page reloads, begin typing the name or email of the donor whose message you'd like to change, and select that donor from the drop-down list that appears below the search bar.

Once you've selected the donor, you should be brought to the donor's "Overview" page, where you can see a list of all of the donations and other transactions that the donor has made through Fundraising Pages.

You'll want to locate the donation associated with the donor scroll posting that you'd like to adjust, then click on the "Actions" button next to that donation, and select "Edit" from the available drop-down options.

You can now scroll down to the section titled "Privacy Settings," and make adjustments to the text included within the associated donor scroll posting.

Once you're ready, you can click on the "Save & Exit" button at the top of your screen; your changes should now save, and the Donor Scroll will automatically update to reflect those changes!

Removing Donor Information from the Donor Scroll

Donors and contributors do have the option to omit certain information from a donor scroll posting, such as how much they've donated or the name displayed along with their contribution. However, they may change their mind about sharing that information publicly, and ask to have that information hidden.

If you're trying to remove information from the Donor Scroll, you'll want to follow the same steps as above for "Editing the Donor Scroll," until you reach the "Privacy Settings" section of the donation you are looking to edit.

As mentioned previously, you can edit the text within that donor scroll posting - but you also have the option to add or remove specific information about the donation from the posting, too.

For example, by unchecking the option for "post my donation amount," the posting will no longer include the amount donated, and will only include the name of the donor and any notes that they chose to include.

You can also uncheck the option for "post my name," which will remove the name of the donor and instead indicate that the donation was made by "Anonymous."

Please note that just because a donor scroll posting indicates that a donation was made anonymously, if the donation was made through Fundraising Pages, the donor's information will still be securely stored in Donor Management for acknowledgement and reporting purposes.

Additionally, for donor scroll postings made on a Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Page, you have the option to not share a donor's information with an individual fundraiser.

Selecting this option prevents the individual fundraiser who received the donation from receiving the donor's personal information, and will reflect as "anonymous" from their internal views and reports on their contributors.

Once you're ready, you can click on the "Save & Exit" button at the top of your screen; your changes should now save, and the Donor Scroll will automatically update to reflect those changes!

Removing all Identifiable Information for a Specific Posting

Some donors might not want to share any information about their contribution, and ask for a donor scroll posting to be removed entirely. Unfortunately, you aren't able to remove a donor scroll posting - but you can use the steps above on "Removing Information from the Donor Scroll" to remove all identifying information from the posting.

By unchecking all three of those available boxes under "Privacy Settings," you'll effectively remove all information from the posting, so it will reflect that "Anonymous" donated "in support of" your campaign, and omit any donation amount.

Removing the Donor Scroll Entirely

If you'd prefer to remove the Donor Scroll entirely, so no contributions are publicly posted on your donation pages, you can contact our Support Team to make that happen.

However, this type of change is a "global" change - meaning that if you opt to remove the Donor Scroll from one of your donation pages, you'll be removing the Donor Scroll from ALL of your donation pages - it can't be customized on a "per-page" basis.
