Getting Your Bidders Started With Auctions

How can my participants sign in and start bidding?

When participants are first directed to your Auctions page, they should be able to either “Join the Auction” for the first time, or “Log In” if they’ve accessed this page previously.

If they have not previously registered, they can then enter their name, phone number, and email address in order to register themselves as a Bidder.

They will also be prompted on this screen to select how they would like to be notified of certain updates to the Auction (such as when the Auction closes, if they have been outbid on an item, etc.)

Once they’ve entered their information, they can click on the green “Let’s Get Bidding!” button, and they will then see the name and bidder number they’ll be using to place bids.

If a participant has already set up an account, they can simply click on the “Log In” at the top of the page, or “Place Bid” on a specific item they’re interested in.

They will then be prompted to enter their email address or phone number to receive a “magic link”, which will quickly and securely log them back into the auction without having to enter their password.

What are “magic links”? How do my participants use magic links to access their bidder accounts?

The magic link is a secure link automatically sent to a bidder’s email or phone number (via text) that allows the participant to click and confirm their identity to log in, instead of having to enter their password.

The “magic link” is sent when a participant clicks on “Log In” on an Auctions page, or if someone clicks on “Place Bid” and has not yet logged into the page.

The link is sent to the email or phone number that the participant has associated with their bidder account, to make logging in and participating in the auction even easier!

Clicking the link will redirect your bidders to a page where they can re-enter their email or phone number; the system will then automatically verify that this information is correct and securely log your participants in to the auction.

How does a Bidder reset a forgotten password?

Because of our "magic link" feature in Auctions, your Bidders won’t have a password to log in and participate in your Auction!

A Bidder can navigate to the Auction, then click on the “Log In” button at the top-right corner of the screen.

They then will be able to use the email address or phone number they used to initially sign up for your Auction to return to your Auction’s site via the “magic link”, and further access their own Bidder information.

What is a “Bidder Number”? How does a Bidder recover a forgotten Bidder Number?

A Bidder Number is a unique number assigned to each Bidder that helps identify their bids while an auction is active, while providing them with some anonymity to other Bidders.

If a Bidder has forgotten their Bidder Number, they can always find it in the top right corner of the Auction (next to their name).
