The Standard Troubleshooting Order
Work through these steps in order. Most issues resolve at Step 2 or Step 3 - you usually don't need to reach Step 6.
Refresh the data inside the app
Force-quit and reopen the app
Check your network connection
Update the app to the latest version
Restart your device
Clear cache (Android) or reinstall (iOS / Android)
Each step is detailed below for both platforms.
β
Step 1 - Refresh the Data
Platform | How to refresh |
iOS | Swipe down from the top of most screens to refresh content. If swipe-down doesn't work, tap into a different tab or section, then return - this forces the screen to reload. |
Android | Swipe down on the screen (where supported) to refresh. Or switch to another section and back. |
If a refresh fixes it, you're done. If not, continue.
β
Step 2 - Force-Quit and Reopen
Platform | How to force-quit |
iOS (iPhone X and newer) | Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle. Find the NextMe app preview and swipe it up off the screen. Reopen from the home screen. |
iOS (iPhone with Home button) | Double-press the Home button. Find the NextMe app preview and swipe it up off the screen. Reopen from the home screen. |
Android | Open the Recent Apps view (square button, swipe up, or three-button gesture depending on your device). Swipe the NextMe card away to fully close it. Reopen from the home screen or app drawer. |
A force-quit is different from just navigating away - it fully terminates the app process and any stuck state.
β
Step 3 - Check Your Network Connection
A surprising number of mobile app issues are actually network issues. Check:
Is Wi-Fi or cellular working for other apps (e.g. can you load a website)?
If on Wi-Fi, try switching to cellular data, or vice versa
Toggle airplane mode on for 5 seconds, then off
See Network Requirements for the specific connectivity NextMe needs
β
Step 4 - Update the App
Outdated app versions can break against current NextMe servers, especially after a major product release.
Platform | How to update |
iOS | Open the App Store β tap your profile icon (top right) β scroll to NextMe and tap Update. Or search for NextMe and tap Update on the app page. |
Android | Open the Play Store β tap your profile icon (top right) β Manage apps & device β Updates available β find NextMe and tap Update. |
Tip: enable automatic updates so this happens in the background going forward.
β
Step 5 - Restart Your Device
A full device restart clears system memory and resolves issues that aren't app-specific.
Platform | How to restart |
iOS | Hold the side button and either volume button until "slide to power off" appears. Power off, wait 10 seconds, hold the side button to turn back on. |
Android | Hold the power button (or power + volume up depending on the device) and tap Restart. |
β
Step 6 - Clear Cache or Reinstall
This is the deepest fix. iOS and Android handle this differently.
iOS (no per-app cache clearing)
iOS does not let you clear an individual app's cache. The equivalent is to delete and reinstall the app:
Hold the NextMe app icon on your home screen
Tap Remove App β Delete App
Open the App Store and reinstall NextMe
Sign back in
Your account, waitlist data, and settings live on NextMe's servers and are not affected.
Android (clear cache without reinstall)
Open your device Settings
Go to Apps (or "Applications" on some devices) β NextMe
Tap Storage
Tap Clear Cache
If clearing the cache alone doesn't fix the issue, tap Clear Storage (or Clear Data) - this resets the app to a fresh state and requires you to sign back in. If issues still continue, uninstall and reinstall from the Play Store.
β
What to Do If It Doesn't Work
If you see... | Try this |
App opens but immediately crashes back to home screen | Reinstall (iOS) or Clear Storage (Android). If it still crashes, check the App Store / Play Store for an update. |
"No connection" or loading spinner that never finishes | Test your network on another app first. Try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular. Check System Status. |
App says "update required" but no update is available in the store | Wait 5 - 10 minutes (app store updates can take time to propagate to your region) and try again. If still missing, restart your device. |
Can't sign in after reinstalling | Confirm your password by signing in to NextMe Web on a browser. If web works but mobile doesn't, contact support. |
Issue only happens on one specific device | Try a different device (phone, tablet, computer). If it works elsewhere, it's a device-specific issue - check your OS version, available storage, and the Hardware Requirements article. |
You're seeing the issue across multiple devices | Check System Status to see if there's an active incident, then contact support. |

FAQ
Will I lose my waitlist data if I uninstall the NextMe app?
No. Your account, waitlist, queues, guest data, and settings are stored on NextMe's servers, not on your device. Uninstalling and reinstalling only clears local app data and your sign-in session. You'll see everything exactly as you left it after signing back in.
Why does my Android device have a "Clear Cache" option but my iPhone doesn't?
This is a difference in how iOS and Android handle apps. Android lets you clear cache without removing the app. iOS does not - the equivalent is to delete and reinstall the app from the App Store. Your data is safe in both cases.
The app worked fine yesterday but stopped working after I updated my phone's operating system. What should I do?
After a major OS update (iOS or Android), apps sometimes need their own update to stay compatible. Check the App Store or Play Store for a NextMe update. If there's no update available and the issue persists, force-quit and reopen the app, then restart your device. If the issue continues, contact support and let us know which OS version you upgraded to.
Is there a difference between using the NextMe mobile app and using NextMe in a mobile browser?
The native iOS and Android apps and the mobile web app share the same underlying account and data, but they are separate experiences. If the mobile app is misbehaving, you can sign in to web.nextmeapp.com in your phone's browser as a temporary fallback while you troubleshoot. See Can I use NextMe on my phone? for more.
My device is older. Could that be causing the issue?
Possibly. As a general rule, devices older than about 5 years may stop receiving OS updates, which can lead to app compatibility issues over time. Check the Hardware Requirements article for our recommended setup.
The mobile app opens but a specific page (like Your Plan) is blank or won't load. What's going on?
This is usually a stale local state. Force-quit and reopen the app first. If that doesn't work, clear cache (Android) or reinstall (iOS). Specific-page issues like this are sometimes fixed in a release, so also confirm you're on the latest app version.
